“sounds like it was mikes fault then, got to have control of your car at all times.”

Not necessarily. Last night we had a car pull in front of us doing about 25 MPH, we were in the fast lane of the freeway at the time. We came within inches of hitting the sob. If it wasn't for the fact that we were the only two cars on that section of road at the time, believe me, there would have been an accident.

Where can I get some of those bumper-stickers?

A few years ago my company had some kind of zero accident policy, supposedly if you were involved in an accident you weren't in control of your vehicle. My boss was hit from behind twice that month while stopped at an intersection. After that, he wasn't a very good spokesman for the company policy. :)

I'm sorry - how did mike hit opposing traffic? Was he ticketed?

Its a two lane road, the car in the opposite lane for what ever reason veered into our lane suddenly as if they were going to u-turn. Mike was NOT ticketed, as it was not his fault. Our car was not totaled but the windsheild washer resevor was shattered and the bumper is messed up.

well..it could of been a lot worse, it jsut came at a bad time (like is there a good time for an accident?) as we have to pay for the plates and make the first car payment next week and the deductable for the insureance is $500....the repair will jsut have to wait untill next month!

That just sucks! Sorry to hear it. Well, the first door ding and accident hurts the most with a new car, at least you got it out of the way. And, it wasn't you behind the wheel (always a good thing). Maybe you can have the dealership body shop do the repairs and when they take 29 days to only take the car apart you can throw a fit and they'll buy it from you for what you owe? It worked for us w/ my crunched up car.

I forgot about Eugene Levy as the car salesman. Great bit of casting, there --

As I recall, their trade-in was immediately driven out back and crushed.

man, your state must suck. In NC if its not your fault there insurance company pays for it. (so no deductible on your part). Then again, my State sucks because we have a insurance friendly nofault law that allows the insurance company to go up on your rate even if you weren't ticketed and the other party's insurance paid to repair your car.

Sorry to hear about the accident...lucky nobody got hurt real bad.

One of my employee's boyfriend got into an accident when he was driving his brand new car out of the dealer's lot. He got T-boned. My employee said he had tears streaming down his face.

Sorry to hear about your ride. I thought I'd inject a little levity. I nearly totaled my 91 suburban 9 months into the payments. It sucked but we bucled down and had it repaired. We still have it runs like a top ( a rusty noisy gas guzzling top)

Isn't it possible to recover your losses, from the other driver, you can outside of the auto insurance claim's. ?????

I had a similar thing happen to me several weeks ago. I was stopped at a stop sign and a girl in a Mercury Sable smashed into the back of my car. Her car's front bumper pushed the spare tire of mine right into the back door and also bent the door frame. I needed a new back door along with the other repairs. She said she wasn't paying attention when she hit me. It was a big hassle getting the repairs done and I couldn't even talk on the phone to make matters worse. I wish people would learn how to drive or at least stay off the cell phone while they are driving. There wasn't a dent or scratch on my car before she hit it.

brokentail, not sure. i've never had an accident before. We have to wait for the police report and the claims person to look at the car before we know anything more.

SC...good luck, dealing with insurance can be a MAJOR drag. There are some really good companies and some REALLY poor companies. Hope it works out for you.
