bug netting

“What do you use when making netting accessories and where do you buy it?

Has anyone just used the bridal veil netting that is reaadily available cheap (and in various colors!) at any fabric store?

I use a Beta Light Tarp. It's not too bad with the mosquitis if I find a nice flat area to pitch it in with the edges low down. I usually spend a few minuutes before sleeping hunting the few mosquitos that've gotten inside when the door was open. Occasionally, some will find their way in under the edge.

I've been thinking about adding a few inches of netting to the edge of my Beta Light. I haven't sewn with silnylon before.

Will I have an easy time about it?

And is it okay to just use bridal netting instead of hunting down a source of trademark Bug Netting?”

“THe holes in bridal veil netting will lets gnats and other little nasties through, no problem. Don't use it.”

“I've been considering using the mesh canopies made for bedrooms. They're really popular for little girls now and I keep on seeing them at Target on the clearance rack for less than $10. I could easily take the plastic tubing out, sew up the open edges and have a perfect mosquito net w/ little cost and effort.

I think Nigal has used bridal veil material before. Also think it's available in different fineness' (Making up words again, sorry).

“Actually what you need to do is mask the carbon dioxide coming off of you. Some things that do that are DEET and Catnip. Mosquitos can't see you, just your carbon dioxide.”
