camping in the gorge
anyone know of good camping sites in the middle gorge loop at the red river gorge?

There used to be a fire ring every 20 feet, but I think they've been cleaning it up more and more ever since they started charging parking fees.

It's always a safe bet to just walk off trail down a creek a little ways. Also, if you see a flat spot on the map, chances are there's an established campsite there.

ductape is right. It's a nice area, and personally I find it convenient since it's close, but that's part of the problem. It's within easy driving distance of Lexington and the Cincy/southern Ohio region, so it gets LOTS of use. I've started driving the extra hour or so to hit the Big South Fork.
