My friend Tracy talks about her son Nick at about the twelve minute mark.

Great video. I'm surprised Tracy was the only one sounding bitter about the militsry. I guess they were trying to honor their memories as much as possible. Thanks for sharing.

How did Tracy sound bitter about the military?

She had little to say about the military except that the Marines simply told her that Nick had been shot.
It was the New York Times article that gave the full details since they had a reporter imbedded.

I think she was remarkably even-tempered about the loss of her only son.
And she says that Nick could have made quite a difference had he lived.
This video is the only time I have even seen her talk about the loss of Nick or even about the war.

A student of mine came into my office. She told me she'd just learned a good friend had died in Iraq. She'd wanted to know if it was OK to go straight home to be with his family and friends and miss class. I told her it was fine with me. I'm sure the family could use the support. I guess she was working on putting on a brave face, I offered a little sympathy and she was in tears.
