Pedxing - thanks for posting that. It's kind of vomitous to have it all there in one place. The religious right is filled with scumbags.

Say, why haven't our two Most Godly TT'rs (sassafras and birtch) visited this thread? LOL - I'm sure they don't want to be confronted by the ugliness that is their belief system.

Can't one remain a Christian and not cling to the more dysfunctional elements of that belief? Even the major ones?

Mutt, whatever you expected to gain from this thread has just been lost by your attack on Sass and Birch. I agree with you that the excise of the MILITANT religious right from MY Republican party would be great. In my book they are no better than MILITANT Muslems, or MILITANT Jews, or MILITANT Pagans for that matter. Everyone has a right to their personal religion, the rest of us have a right not to have their beliefs jammed down our throats as well. I'm happy to see the John Ashcrofts of the world go down in flames. I wouldn't want to live in a country where they would be allowed to force their beliefs on the people.

Remember all the crap about congressman Keith Ellison, he is muslim and all wackos that were afraid that he would take the oath of office with his hand on a copy of the Koran. Who gives a crap what your hand is resting on when you take the oath of office. It is your oath not the objects.

The problem is twofold, nimblefoot. True Believers never admit the Truth that it is the belief system itself that creates the "dysfunctional elements". (It's always those false christians doing that stuff. Must be nice to always be able to deflect legitimate criticism.) Second, they rarely speak out against it, unless they're forced into it. And then of course it's blatantly insincere.

Really it's just childish and self centered. But I've been saying the Truth for years...

No, not at all. They illustrate my point well, in fact.

Yes, it's always those *other* christians, isn't it. This reminds me of the so-called "moderate muslim majority" that the liberals are so eager to reify, even though time and time again, it's those "moderates" who turn out to be extremists. The same thing can more or less be said of the Religous Right.

Mutt got it dead on. I keep saying we need to distinguish between Faithful Believers and the Religious Believers.
The Religious Believers exist in all religions. Their practice is more tied to the OUTWARD exhibition of their belief. Not Practice as in living the example but in ensuring the "regimine of their belief"
We have seen them the crying sobbing Christians who are so ready to cram their particular Christianity down your throat (heck look at Northern Ireland for a good example).

The Faithful are those who live their belief. They understand it is more who you are than WHAT you are.

The Religious Right is no less disgusting to many than the Religious (READ ENVIROWACKO, SOCIALIST WACKO) Leftists. I tell you what, soon as the libbies excise the puss filled abcess that is the ultra leftists I am sure the conservatives will dot the same.

I tried to explain to my son why I am not all fired up about any of the candidates. In the early portions of the campaign I notice the really WIDE case nutjobs steal the headlines. Becuase they are the only ones being supported. As time goes along the more thoughtful and more representative types may surface.

Mutt your mind is made up so I have no point to argue with you. Freedom of religion has always been a part of the foundation of the United States. I just wish they would have added freedom of and from religion as well. Given a chance lots of the militant types would install their religion as the state religion. That is the real devil that we must keep outside the gates.
Bateauxdriver
8:23:41 AM

And your mind isn't made up? The problem is that it's not just the militants, Bateauxdriver. Christians need to face up to the fact that it's the belief system itself that is the cause of many of the problems.

No, it's not really a great troll, birch, as I was sure you wouldn't respond substantively. It did, however, serve to show that you two are hypocrites. You *never* have acknowledged the facts. Instead you and your wife have occasionally given the "other christians" excuse, while playing up your pious social image. Like I said, it's childish.

But since you're just stabbing in the dark why even bother? Besides, I don't really care what you think of me. It doesn't matter. Maybe you and Stovestomper and XL should start a club or something.

Not "stabbing in the dark" here, sassafras. You two have very purposefully crafted your social image here of "true" christians. That's enough to know that it's people like you who *should* be leading the charge of changing the aspects of your belief system that lead to so much "evil" - to put it in christian terms. But no, like I said already, what we've seen from you is the "that's not a true christian" copout or mild condemnations at best. So when people like you two don't have the strength of character to face the truth about your beliefs, I purposefully call out your hypocrisy.

Whether my mother or mother-in-law live with me or not is my own personal business. I'm quite sure I've never posted anything on the matter.
