taller boots
About a year ago I started purchasing taller boots. I wear a ten inch Cabela boot now. They are well broke in and took my second hike with them today. Last week I wore them climbing into the hills above the Encampment river .

I am retired and need the extra support .
Very pleased with these tall sturdy boots.

I hiked for years in my old Marine Corps issue. I continued to purchase tall boots after they wore out.

I finally tried on a pair of Vasque Sundowners. The height of the boot collar was exactly where I needed the support. Oddly I found that a shorter boot provided more support.

Now people talk about hiking in sandals and sneakers. My ankles are too old and battered for that.

taller boots
I've used Galibier , Lowe Scouts, and other boots for years but as I got older I went back to taller boots.
The Marine Corps issue boots were really tough and comfortable. And they supported a lot of weight (field tranport packs ).

Taller boots might make your muscles weaker too. Seems as if that may be something you should be working on, strengthing those muscles, instead of supporting the weak ones.

10" boots
Mucles are fine. The ankles need the support .
