Traildog down

“Well, my trail dog isn't down yet, but the Thyroid medication the vet prescribed for the hair loss hasn't helped, she's shedding like crazy, maybe even more now then before. I might end up with a bald lab! My vet referred me to a doggy dermetologist three hours south of me. (I live in the sticks) $115 for the consult. could be up to $1000 for tests. Of course she says it could be much less also.
My question is: where do you think the limit is to medically care for your best friend???? I already know she's the best dog I ever had, and I've had dogs my whole life. She may well be my last dog, as the kids are growing up now and I just can't ever imagine replacing her.

“You don't want to know how much I spent and she will probably have to have one leg amputated because of nerve damage.

I have had to put down 9. It all comes down to quality of life. Are they suffering just because you can't give up...
