I was expecting a new camera now that you've become almost a professional photographer.

Actually, it looks like a snow shoe!

I checked some reviews and found prices paid from $218 to 425.

Hope you enjoy it.

Congrats Crazygurl! Did you choose a paddle and pfd yet?
Birch has been shopping for a new paddle and has found great prices on ebay. He researched what he wanted, couldn't find it anywhere locally and will end up saving about $125.00 on the one he wants on ebay.

Thanks Sass
I got a ...uuummm....fiberglass 220cm (I think that is right) and paid 112.00 for it.

I haven't gotten a pdf yet but will in time.

There is a lake near our house and they have a rowing club there so I will start out there but am anxious to move out.

Snowshoe for Sasquatch? LOL

Ever see the people who get out on the river on a standing wave and spin and flip around? That's your basic rodeo kayaking.

crazygurl - Here is where I found the reviews and prices paid: Dagger Zydeco Kayak

If you return to the store, you might be able to negotiate a better deal. If it is within a return period, you could tell them you want to return it! Nothing tried, nothing gained.

Location may have a lot to do with the price. Shipping costs have increased with the price of fuel. While not heavy, the kayaks are bulky. But, if you're happy, just enjoy it. The fun you enjoy with it, is what really counts.

The hubby is going to pick it up this afternoon...they have a NO REFUND sign at the register that I saw when I purchased it. I thought it was a fair price for the ones I've priced in the area.

Mr. Toestuff...why is it ALMOST a kayak?

Does a kayak need a christaning like other water vessels??? Do you name them???

Ummm, CG, I hope this doesn't spoil the bonding, but that's a kayak, not a baby, which begs the question, how the hell did you conceive that?

It's a shame it's not a little older. Looks like it would have no problem staying hard.

I try to stay away from places with policies like, "NO REFUND." I prefer, "Refunds given cheerfully without questions."

Something 9' long and 3' wide is more like a bobber or a decoy than a kayak in my book.

The important thing is that you USE it. No kayak is any good sitting in a garage.

Have FUN with your baby.

OK...we got him home yesterday...well hubby got him home. I was trying so hard not to laugh when I pulled up in the drive. He had strapped it on top from fender to bumper with this NEON ORANGE strap that had wenches on it. I tried to gently tell him I didn't think I wanted to use the bright orange and I didn't think I wanted to do it fender to bumper.

So he found some 'other straps' black without the wenches and we seemed to secure it to the rack safely.

Are there any suggestions for transporting them that makes loading and unloading simpler.

A kayak rack is really helpful. If you can't get one there are foam cradles that hold the boat on top of the car.
