April/May Photo Assignment

“Okay, nobody piped up with suggestions, so here's your next assignment shutterbugs: "WATER". You interpret it however you like. It can be anything from a puddle in the middle of the trail, to a waterfall, to Lake Superior. Submissions will be accepted until Monday, May 7th, at which time the gallery will be turned on for comments.

Rules, as before are; Photo must have been taken after April 9th, 2007. If you can't resize it, I'll resize it for you, but they will be displayed at a maximum size of 600 pixels along the longest axis. Please don't send any files larger than 1 or 2 mb in size at the largest. Send your photos along with your Trailtalk name, date photo was taken, a caption, and any other information you would like to include. I will post them in a new gallery on my web site, the same as before, with only the caption displayed until after the comment period is over with.

In other words, email me your photos rather than posting them here. I don't know, it just seems like the comments may be less skewed if people are examining the photos for their photographic merits without an identity in their heads. Just a thought.”

As for posting a photo from your archives, it kind of departs from the whole point of this excercise, which is to take a subject, put your own perspective on it, and go shoot something new and challenging.”

“Yes, continue the project please. I just got a used digital camera and have been tweaking the settings. Lots of damn buttons and dials and switches on that computer. Sorry I didn't come up with anything decent in the Gros Ventre and Cashe Wilderness areas.

Now that the camera is about ready, the first assignment for myself... Calf Branding followed by Rocky Mountain Oyster Feed!!”

“hobbit, I was thinking the same thing a couple days ago. I think that there would be more participation if there were more freedom as to what can be posted. You might also consider bumping up the thread couple times a week to remind people of the deadline since it appears there would have been more this time if people knew.

“Hi Ewker, I've been very busy. It's that time of year at work. :p
Plus trying to get in as much hiking as possible to stay in shape. I have a fairly strenuous week-long+ hike coming up in July.
How about you?”

“Of course work gets in the way of hiking..lol

no Calif. trip for me this yr :( but I am going to Canada for a week long hike.
Plus weekend trips here and there. I did a week on the AT earlier this yr. that was fun.

Hopefully we can meet up again next yr.”
