I bought a "Transparent Language" program called "Russian Now". I can't really judge it's quality because when it comes to foreign languages, I'm basically a dope. Anybody want it, it's free for the taking.

I haven't tried them myself but watched the demo at the airport Sunday. The programs are garenteed to work. I want Spanish. It looks good to me.

Who could blame you? Might be nice to be able to say "Hold the Kim-che (sp?)" too.

My daughter sent me kimchi (sp?) filled chocolates for Christmas as well as the Korean national booze (help) with whole ginseng roots suspended in a very attractive bottle. Great conversation piece.

She holidayed in Japan and Thailand and has now travelled through China and is currently in Vientiane after trekking throughLaos (she slept in a tree house in a gibbon reserve). Next is Viet Nam and a flight from Ho Chi Min City to Madras, through India and trekking in Nepal before flying home.

I wish we could have done things like that when I was young.

Ive used RS. Its excellent.

Designed to take 1-2 years for proficiency though. You wont learn "where is the bathroom" in the first month.

This is REALLY important. Forget how I'm spelling it, I doubt I can remember the English spelling for something Korean from 27 years ago anyway.

Bul-go-ki is very tasty, but never eat
Ke-go-ki it's dog meat!

I can't say for certain that it is still happening but, white dogs are kept as pets, all other dogs, fair game.

actually, based on the orientation booklet ive been reading, only one breed of dog is eaten, and its a delicacy that is not eaten very often. its mainly a male aphrodisiac (supposedly)

the way the dogs are slaughtered is very inhumane. they are beaten for hours to get their adrenaline flowing. this is thought to make the man who eats the dog more virile or whatever. add that to the list of stuff i wont eat, including veal, for similiar reasons
