If you love hiking, backpacking, cutting down your own Christmas tree, or just walking through the woods, then you are going to absolutely love this pocket chainsaw.

It is very easy to assemble, is only 28 inches long when uncoiled, is lightweight, and comes with its own storage can. This is one unique gadget that you will not want to be without the next time you go camping. You will not have to hunt around for small brush or limbs to start your campfire; you can just pull out your pocket chainsaw and cut your own brush and small limbs to start your campfire. You will be warm and cozy in no time and enjoying cooking those hot dogs and marshmallows over an open fire.

Oh god, it gets worse..
t may be the middle of summer (here in the UK anyway) but it’s always good to be prepared, so if the weather does take a turn for the worst you’ll be glad of these new Turtle snow chains.

The show chains can be fixed on to any shoe, hiking boot, wellington boot or ski boot. No guarantees that they’ll fit or be comfortable on the sandals though :)

A simple but clever idea for the winter but as I’m currently sat on a plane flying out to a sunny summer holiday (hopefully) I won’t be buying them just yet. Available from Proidee for £17.50

make it stop.. make it stop..
While the Play List Jacket works fine in formal occasions for you to listen in on your favorite songs discreetly instead of subjecting your ears to mindless chatter at the corporate boardroom, that jacket can’t be used in a casual environment. Those who love the great outdoors and other sporting activities will have to look elsewhere when it comes to carrying their beloved iPods and cellphones, and the perfect fit (pardon the pun) can be found in the Soundwalk MP3 Player Audio Sports Vest. What does this vest do, you ask?

For starters, the Soundwalk MP3 Vest features light-weight amplifier speakers located at each shoulder strap, giving you a pretty respectable level of sound quality without messing around with pesky earphone wires. Other than the wide variety of colors to choose from, the Soundwalk MP3 Vest ensures your safety is of the utmost importance by including the “Reflective Line” that increases your visibility during the night, reducing the risk of any unwanted accidents. It does all of this while carrying both your cellphone and MP3 player.

You will be able to toggle between your MP3 player and cellphone at the press of a button, making it convenient to interrupt a song in order to make or receive calls. The hands-free functionality ensures you will be able to enjoy your favorite tunes while engaged in vigorous outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, and even inline skating. Hopefully your cellphone and MP3 player are well protected to lessen the impact in case you fall. Your life also won’t be endangered as you will be able to listen to the surrounding environment, making you aware of any vehicles sneaking up behind you. Of course, this is a double-edged sword as your selection of tunes might end up annoying those who want a quiet walk around the park, but that’s the price to pay. The Soundwalk MP3 Vest currently retails for $69.99.

Where are the guys at Hykerville when you need them? I see a great idea for a new comic strip, entitled:

and it doesn\'t stop there
There is a article in this month's ROCKICE which claims that there is a company that plans to start base with a rescue operation at Everest using an unmanned-jet-a-fuel-burning 30-thousand-foot-ceiling-rescue helicopter.
It's supposed to only require that the injured climber clip onto the red machine to be flown like a hanging chad to the lower camp of medical treatment.

What's next, Home-style delivered pizza?

What we do is have the bad-ass high-altitude helicopter deliver the inflatable pub to the mountaintop of our choosing.

All opposed? Motion carried!

I've always thought that GSMNP is missing an incredible commercial opportunity by not building a "natural" water slide from IceWater Shelter back to NewFound Gap.

Think of it!

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls -- for just $10 the best trailmagic and steak sandwich you will ever have."

And then the park service could outfit IceWater Shelter with a restaurant that serves the sandwiches, and allows the "hikers" to ride the 4 miles back to the parking lot on an awesome waterslide that overlooks the Smoky Mountain valleys below!

uUummmm.... yeah.

AAAAH...man that looks fun.

I am GOING to go to Sarah's Creek in Clayton sometime just to play in the creeks. Gotta do that...Gotta get away when I am NOT the Medic and tour guide.
