Any Suggestions?
Thinkbubelz & I will be in New Bern, NC around the weekend of June 3rd. Since it's our 1st time to North Carolina, we figured we'd take a few extra days to do some camping / hiking / playing on the coast.

Any suggestions as to where to go?

Carlette is close to there too but I haven't seen her around here in ages!

Try the Neusiok trail. Its not too far from new bern. Its 22 miles long with 3 shelters. Its part of the Mountains To Sea Trail. http://www.clis.com/canoe2/neusioktrail.html

I haven't hiked this trail, but Carlette and Wildbill have. I have seen all the pictures (several times ) though.

I have hike the Neusiok and I would not hike it in June. Too many ticks, snakes, heat, and humidity. And if we get alot of rain, it can be a very wet trail. I say go to Cape Lookout, Shackleford Banks, or Hammocks Beach State park.

"camping/hiking in nc" is not a question. it is a sentence fragment composed of a noun and a prepositional phrase. punctuation such as question marks at the end are not only superfluous, they are erroneous, as well as annoying

thank you, and have a nice day

FYI, Shackleford Banks is part of Cape Lookout Nat'l Seashore

No doubt on yotaman, New Bern area in June? Not a good idea, ticks and bugs can be handled, but the head and mucho humidity makes for crappy hiking! You've gotta get to the Outer Banks, for the breeze factor (do hope there's no lull in the breeze).

isn't the "Trail" on the outer banks just the beach? Beach hiking sucks, wind or no wind. Beach strolling is sweet, though.

You can't beat beach-watching from a shady spot with plenty of cold beer handy.

Beach hiking: Get up walk to cooler, return to beach chair. Repeat as needed.

You guys miss my point. The beach hiking is part of the Mountains to see trail and is miles and miles and miles of hiking in sand

OK, when I said "head and humidity makes for bad hiking", I meant 'heat'! I have no experience with head and hiking, unfortunately, so I cain't say how good or bad hiking that might be. That should however be on my To Do list methinks.

Probably easier for the recipient than it is for the giver.
