A friend and I want to do 10-15 miles in the gorge this coming weekend. Could anyone, in as specific of terms as possible, suggest a backpacking route? I know almost all the trails are short loops that loop and intersect one another, but with as many TTers who do and have hiked the RRG, I'm sure someone has a good trek for us. I have a rough map and plan to buy the trail book.

You could just take off hiking, use a gps, or a compass,

Here's what I'm thinking(please advise). Park at Koomer Ridge CG, hike #220 Koomer Ridge trail to where it meets #221/Sheltowee Trace, go left, continue on #221 all the way around Gray's Arch to #205, walk that little loop by Tunnel Ridge Rd, and take #223 and #226 back to #220 and backtrack back to the campground and my truck. It's hard to tell exactly how many miles this'll be, but I don't think it's over 15, and this will be an overnighter, so 15 miles is cool. What do you all think, and/or, is there a "better" similar loop?

Where's Crash when you need him. ;)

Ya know... you could always crash Crash's "Fair thee well" Bang. :D

I've only been to RRG twice, first time was an end to end. I got nothin'.

The Shell station at, damn, forget the name of the town... Well, they sell an excellent topo/road map of the area. That will give you a little more detail. Just pop in there before hitting the park (plus, I believe you'll need a parking permit anyway and you get those there).
