trees and ticks

“I'm new here, but have maybe what some of you may call a dumb question! I live in Southern Maine and my husband wants to plant a few pine trees in our backyard. Then someone burst his bubble telling him that pine trees will bring ticks! Can someone please direct me to some information or give your opinions on this? We were only thinking of planting maybe 3 or 4 of them, and they will be small to start. Do I need to be concerned with ticks? Thanks for your help!”

I came out the other day and there were two attractive women between say 18 and 25 in short shorts and bikini tops.

They "say" they have to earn money for their sorority and they offer to wash your windshield. This they do quite well...then they ask for a ride to another shopping center.

Well they get in the back and as you are driving they start making out...then they ask if you would like to join in and it turns into a sex free for all.

When you get home later on...you notice your wallet has been taken.

Yeah it happened to me Last Wednesday, Thursday, Monday, twice yesterday....and hopefully sometime today.....”

I consider this probably true since the worst case of chiggers I ever had was from bushwhacking through some pine”

To Remove the entire Tick I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great, because it works in those places where it's sometimes difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc. Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap- soaked cotton ball and let it stay on the repulsive insect for a few seconds (15-20), after which the tick will come out on it's own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it (and that was frequently), and it's much less traumatic for the patient and easier for me. Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, "It worked!"”

Remove a tick from your skin as soon as you notice it. Use fine-tipped tweezers to firmly
grasp the tick very close to your skin. With a steady motion, pull the tick’s body away from your skin. Then clean your skin with soap and warm water. Throw the dead tick away with your household trash.
Avoid crushing the tick’s body. Do not be alarmed if the tick’s mouthparts remain in the skin. Once the mouthparts are removed from the rest of the tick, it can no longer transmit the Lyme disease bacteria. If you accidentally crush the tick, clean your skin with soap and warm water or alcohol.

Don’t use petroleum jelly, a hot match, nail polish, or other products to remove a tick.

yes, but what i'm saying is i've never had a problem doing this by hand...and what's all this talk about crushing the body...they're friggin hard, you have to use a pocket knife to crush them, at least when they're still small
