Im from maryland (north of baltimore) originally, but didnt get into bping until college. now i live in the blue ridge mountains with AT access points at my finger tips so trail and camping spots is not an issue. so im back in bmore for a little while and want to do some camping with some old friends. Now it 'seems' that every single wooded area within an hour drive is either a car camping spot where you pay to camp, or a state park that is "no trespassing after dark" anyone from maryland have ANY central maryland camping spots? i've looked at a lot of the spots on trails and places, but most are just trails with no camping. i've also checked the DNR website with no avail. any suggestions AT ALL? thanks

I'm in Baltimore and I usually go to Monongahela National Forest in Deepest Darkest West Virginia.

The AT in Maryland is within 75 miles and so is the AT in Micheaux State Forest in Pennsylvania just past Emittsburg, Md out Route 140.

We don't want your kind in PA mARKo!! Stay south of the M&D line . . . where you belong!

nogranola - The M&D line! Isn't that the line that goes down the middle of East Baltimore Street? I've asked hundreds of people exactly where that line is located. I've received a different answer each time. And they all swear that their answer is the correct one!

Most of the time I was trying to find out if I was kissing a real "Southern Girl."

The PA/MD border is the Mason Dixon line. And truth be told I think we've got plenty enough room up here for another hippie free-lovin' redneck ;-)

The MD line runs E-W just South of the Pa line.

Use the AT north or south of Alt.40 W of Bmore.

Also AT in PA starting @ Pine grove furnace is nice and close.

I'm in Charles County (Don't tell anyone, K).

I like Green Ridge State Park, out I-70 to I-68, 5 miles after the "big gash in the mountain". I also like the AT in southern PA and western MD as others have already mentioned. From where I live (northern Balto Co) its under 1 1/2 hours to most of it.
