This is turning into quite the kidfest! What a great range of ages. It looks like every kid there will have at least a few other kids in their age group.

I did like Koomer Ridge last year. I am concerned that with the size of our group we won't be able to all be near each other. I guess we could spread out more.

Well, we'll figure this out. I can't do it tomorrow, but later this week I'll check with all the campgrounds and see if I can get us a group deal.

I still suggest using one of the primitive car camping areas. Especially the one just past Gray's Arch...it is huge with a privy and paved parking lot and easy for everyone to find

just found out this weekend that the in-laws and most of my wife's family are going to be on vacation that week!...this will be the first time they've been gone over mothers day!

my wife's excited about doing this...we'll more than likely be bringing our almost 2 year old son as well as our 10 year old nephew

i'm down as a strong maybe right now...it all depends on our new daughter and how much her sleep schedule improves between now and then...we don't want to leave her with someone overnight if she's going to be up all night

Wish I could make it. As part of a group is the only way I can enjoy RRG anymore. To think I cut my backpacking teeth here going solo, cooking canned ravioli on campfires and having real eggs for breakfast, using a 10X10 piece of 4mil plastic for shelter, external pack, wearing cotton. I came here for spring break every year for a while, wouldn't see anyone M-F

I just changed my status. I took the weekend off and plan on being there. I hope there is a rest room near by because my little girl had issues with leaning up against a tree. I need a female to show her the proper technique. My wife does not go hiking with me in the back country and I am not a very good teacher because the poor girl ends up with wet shoes. It was ugly.

See you all in May.

Bigpoppa
There are rest rooms near by most of the time. When we are out hiking, it's iffy. There will be plenty of females of all ages who can help with "what to do when there is on toliet around. I always told my daughter that she was going like a pioneer girl. Little House on the Prairie was big when she was little. lol

My niece is already talking about this trip!

My girls are stoked!

Are we staying at Koomer again? Was it ever decided? what about any kind of itinerary? I'd be fine with something similar to last years trip but I'm easy. Whatever.

Re: campground: I have made some phone calls...waiting for return calls. Here are my thoughts on our options.

Koomer Ridge: I like it a lot. Not sure it will hold all of us in the primitive area. Some may have to be a ways away in the "car camp" area.

John Swift's: http://www.swiftcampground.com/ It might be an optiong. However, it is $5/adult/day and $3/child/day. Am waiting for return call to see if I can get a group rate. From the web site I can't tell if there is a privy or water.

The large campground Sticks mentioned is another option. I have stayed there. It will hold us easily. My concern is that there is no water source. We would have to cart in all our water. That wouldn't be hard to do because you don't camp that far from your vehicle. So everyone could easily bring the gallons they need. There is no charge to camp there either if I remember correctly.

Please weigh in with your thoughts on the options.

And let me know if I have to update the kid head count. Right now I am figuring roughly 15 adults and 15 kids.
