"WTF??!!...heat challenges???...jogging is a heart challenge...can you not even say heart disease anymore?"

Sometimes it's not heart disease. My family contains the inherited hypertrophic cardiomyopathy "condition" -- Abnormal thickening of the heart muscle. Pretty rare (reported more than previously thought, however).

You can/could drop dead at any minute. My dad died of a sudden, massive 6 months after he had gotten a clean bill of health.

I don't know if I can go along with the "Just cuz he's dead, I shouldn't give'em a jab or eight" thing, Corey.

I would like to think that if a person doesn't want anything poor said about them, they should live their lives accordingly; gives ya something to shoot for, at least.

BTW -- this is trailtalk, where even purest of people get hammered. It's the nature of the beast; and what keeps'em commin` back for more....

Sad news. Condolences to his family and all those who felt their world was better with him in it. We may argue a lot about what's real and what matters, but death seems mighty real and even when the dying person feels ready it almost always leaves someone in a world of pain.

i agree...i always hate to see people bash people right after their death...with the exception of a handful of truly evil people, Hitler, Pol Pot, Caligula, everyone one deserves a little respect right after their death

well said ped

"i agree...i always hate to see people bash people right after their death...with the exception of a handful of truly evil people, Hitler, Pol Pot, Caligula, everyone one deserves a little respect right after their death"

I might point out that "truly evil people" should be considered a relative term. I'm sure that to some people, Falwell would fit your criteria, to others not so much.

The point is freedom of speech should be all-encompassing, and not limited. Nor should we ever expect others to exercise that freedom based on what we deem as "proper".

Once we get that outta the way, a better nights sleep we'll all have.

i'm not talking about "freedom of speech" i'm talking about common decency...i didn't exactly like the guy but i'm not gonna bash him while his body is still warm

FYI
Changes That Occur in the Body after Death

Post-mortem Cooling (Algor Mortis)

(1) Occurs when no further heat is produced by metabolism. Body temperature falls gradually after death (approximately 1.0 to 1.5 degrees F/hr.)

(2) Cooling continues until room temperature is reached in about 24 hours

"i'm not talking about "freedom of speech" i'm talking about common decency..."

I know that. I'm talking about freedom of speech. Common decency is another relative term, depending on it's contextual situation.

"i didn't exactly like the guy but i'm not gonna bash him while his body is still warm."

The short of what I'm saying is:
1. Don't kid yourself if you think that nobody is not going to say a bad thing about someone who is dead -- this is trailtalk and you know what you're gonna get around here.

2. It should be no surprise to anyone when this happens, because who a person considers "evil" will vary from person to person. Personally, I thought the guy was one of the biggest wastes of carbon ever; others around here will think he was "one rightious dude". Should I be censored just because I should follow some order of decorum reserved for people whom I deem are "rightious"? Where is the line, and at what level are people afforded this grace and who makes that determination?

3. Operating under your criteria, one could even bash Mother Teresa when she kicked; "it's" all relative.

Nope. Perhaps you need to re-read what was clearly written. That is, of course, if you're just not out to take this whole thing up a notch.

bacpac brings up a great example. A lot of people, myself include, hammered pac for what he said about ped. I consider ped good people; pac just some flamer out to get his cookies baked.

It's in how you feel about someone. One should not be limited to the confines of what others feel regarding speech.

He said that the "anti christ" walked among us and that he was a jew.
