The black flies are out here in the Adirondacks. I was out fishing this weekend and was attacked by the swarm.

Could be the opening scene for a 50's-like creature feature. Somebody did Giant Mosquitos a few years back, but black flies haven't been exploited yet, that I know of.

Cheepnis!

Ace Hardware sells fly paper. It's a required item in my backpack.

Hey.... I saw the final scenes of "The Fly" not long ago on the boob tube. Great stuff!

That look on Vincent Price's face..... "Help meeeeeee! HELP MEEEEEEEeeeeeeeee..."

It won't be long before they are flying off with small dogs and cats.

I was reading an article this weekend and it gave a remedy for catching flies.

Supposedly, if you put some water in a pan, add liquid soap, and throw in an alkeseltzer tablet it acts as a huge attractant.

From a entomoloygy point of view, I am finding this hard to believe. Problem was the article was written by a Ph.D entomologist.

#&%!$, I have been trying to find someplace with flies for three days now.

Yeah, I am thinking the only flies that contraption will catch are the ones thrown into it.

But I am on a mission. As soon as I can find a place to try this, I will report back.

I'm not sure what the soap is for, but I would think the CO2 released from the alkeseltzer tablet is what brings them in. The CO2 released from breathing is how they are attracted to animals and people.
