At the current rate of exchange.... £238.30 = $470.57.

That's a little steep!  Another website gave a range of £180-220.  A third gave some auction prices ranging from 91 € - 157 € ($122.93 - $212.08)

If we can't get it for less than $400 US, I'll let you know when I hit the lottery (but I hardly every play because it's such a Total Sucker Bet!) Soooo, chances are mighty slim, I'm afraid ---

What's the scoop on that Blackfriar?

Black Friar Ale 500ml Scotland. Buy Black Friar Beer online. $4.59.

94 • Inveralmond Brewery Blackfriar Scottish Strong Ale. Brilliant, deep copper color. Honey toast malt and subtle fruit aromas have a bark-like, earthy edge. A rich entry leads to a full-bodied palate with balanced dark toasted malt, toffee, and chocolate covered citrus peels. Finishes with a wave of spicy, grapefruity hops and a brush of roasted nuts. A big, yet very well-balanced and beautifully integrated, strong and hoppy Scottish ale. Tastings.com

Well----I'm going to STFU before I wind up on a quote thread, in or out of context,

Good to know it has a "Brilliant, deep copper color," though....

Its strong AND hoppy. Yay Scotland!

Ok, we can't very well get all friar'd up without some Chaucer. rockin' the Middle English...

When that Aprill with his shoures soote
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licour
Of which vertu engendred is the flour,
Whan Zephirus eek with his sweete breeth
Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
The tender croppes, and the yonge sonne
Hath in the Ram his halve cours yronne,
And smale foweles maken melodye,
That slepen al the nyght with open ye
(So priketh hem nature in hir corages),
Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages,
And palmers for to seken straunge strondes,
To ferne halwes, kowthe in sondry londes;
And specially from every shires ende
Of Engelond to Caunterbury they wende,
The hooly blissful martir for to seke,
That hem hath holpen whan that they were seeke." General Prologue, l.1-20

Has nothing to do with location. The funny-speak is caused by drunken 3am English nerd recitation games

"How much Chaucer is possible after 4 shots Cuervo! Now lets try 6 shots!" Good times, good times.

Howzabout a little White Friar from Abbey Ales in Bath, England.
