You have got to be kidding me. This guy got someone to bang him, eh?

Guess it gives hope to the Cory's out there.

What a double standard. Clinton gets sex by an ugly girl, lies about it under oath, and gets to keep his job.

Wolfowitz get sex from an ugly woman:

tells the truth about it, and loses his job.

I think that was his stepping stone to a spot in the United Nations. All he has to do now is is find a way to siphon money from the taxpayers to himself and he's a shoe-in.

Ed -- there is no double standard.

The only thing Monica got for piping Bill was a stained dress, and a hassle for being a chunky chick.

Paul's chick got paid $$$ for banging him.

I could see if Bill elevate Monica to a formal paid position, say "Presidential Head Specialist", or something, but Billy just lobed a few off in her direction, then kicked her to the curb.

In the Luis Vuitton cup, the american boat just had a rigging failure that is slowing them just enough to let the Italians pass them. Wonder how much World Bank money is paying the billions for these races?

I have to admit I haven't been following this story very closely, so correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure you will), but as I understand it, everybody's bent outa shape cause some guy got his girlfriend a job. (Pardon me but have any of you ever heard of Chicago?) If you get rid of all the people who got their jobs because of who their sleeping with (hello Hillary), you'd have a harder task than deporting all the illegal aliens (not a bad idea, bye the way).

I have some sympathy with Wolfowitz on this one. Its not about sex, or getting someone a job they weren't qualified for. It sounds she was pretty capable and she already had a job at the World Bank. He violated regulations by arranging her transfer, promotion and major pay increase while trying to cut down on corruption - in violation of regulations. However, it seems like the Board at the World Bank was letting her twist in the wind after they told her she couldn't work under Wolfowitz and didn't give her a new position.

Given the situation, I don't think what he did was that extreme. I think there were bigger issues and people were gunning for him and this was the "gotcha" moment. I'm not fond of him, don't agree with some of the things he did at the World Bank or what he did to help get us into Iraq and didn't want him heading the World Bank.

I don't see anyone getting bent here. Perhaps some dismay over what type of chick would wanna bang this guy.

This issue seems to be that he broke policy. I don't see any witch hunt happening. A lot of corporations and non-profits have policy for fishing off the company pier, inter office romance, etc.

Here's what Andy Young (hardly an icon of the neo-cons) had to say:

The World Bank accepted that Wolfowitz "acted ethically and in good faith" in "what he believed were the best interests of the institution".

Laqtis on the other hand says "Paul's chick got paid $$$ for banging him."

Either the World Bank thinks it is ethical for its President to pay a chick $194,000 to bang him, or Laqtis got his facts wrong.

Actually Prosecutor its not either/or and there is a third possibility: The World Bank said something it did not fully believe.

Personally, I think Laqtis is wrong. W's girl friend was making 130K or so before Wolfowitz stepped in. She had a high paying job at World Bank before Wolfowitz came to the World Bank. It seems to me that Wolfowitz was trying to compensate her for messing up her situation there. The Board insisted she had to change her job when he assumed the role as president because of nepotism statues.

Although I don't think what he did was as bad as most of his critics do, I also think the World Bank agreed to the statement in order to get rid of him without any more chaos. They simply gave the statement as part of the agreement.

Ed -- the wording you mentioned was part of the deal for him to leave with some sort of "grace".

At any rate, it matters not what Paul did, or did not do. He's out at the end of June.

Here's an addendum:

The statement you claimed showed that I might not have my facts correct, is really a statement that was worked out between him and the body. Bold is mine:

"HUME: This just in to Fox News, a deal has been reached at the World Bank for the resignation of Bank President Paul Wolfowitz. He was found, you may recall, to have violated bank rules by helping to arrange a pay raise and a job transfer for his female companion, a bank employee. Correspondent James Rosen has now the latest, James?

JAMES ROSEN, FOX NEWS CORRESPONDENT: Brit, good evening. Executives at the World Bank Board have been deliberating for several days, as you know, over what to do about the situation involving Paul Wolfowitz. They spent another six hours today negotiating with aides to Wolfowitz over a statement that is to be issued imminently by the World Bank Board that will state that Wolfowitz is resigning, but that he acted in good faith at all points along the way throughout this controversy.

We understand as well, as part of this negotiated arrangement, Wolfowitz will remain in his job through June 30th. According to World Bank sources, the statement has been in part drafted by Wolfowitz' aide Robin Cleveland, who also attracted controversy at some points throughout this. At issue, as we know, are steps that Wolfowitz took two years ago to deal with a conflict of interest involving his companion, long time World Bank employee Shaha Riza, which led to her being reassigned to the State Department under lucrative terms.

Throughout this matter, Wolfowitz has been represented by the noted criminal defense attorney Bob Bennett. We have been in touch with Bennett's office. They have not confirmed this arrangement, but sources at the World Bank tell us Wolfowitz has agreed to resign in exchange for statements soon to be issues, any moment, by the World Bank Board that will state that he has acted in good faith. He will apparently remain in his job until June 30th. Brit?"

your statement is about how he cooperated through the process of resolving the issue of his violation of the rules, not that he acted in good faith in his position, as you alluded.
