Any anonymous comments/votes will be deleted. 6:52:41 AM 6/18/07 “Hey Paige, am curious what you hoped for us to learn with this topic? Just to get people thinking outside the box, or a specific purpose? I see a lot of nice photos in the gallery, but not ones that I feel are necessarly served up best askew. For myself, I began to get a feel for what I feel might make a shot like this work - I felt that is having some foreground element, I think other than and apart from the landscape, to set off the skewiness (LOL, I like that word) Just wondering what others thought/found out. ...Then again, you guys know I like to constructive critiques. It would seem that could be done here with the anonymous comments, in fact, it would seem to be the perfect way to do that if you don't want to leave a name. BUT... don't be nasty either! Just an idea I'm tossing Hobbit's way: To have us vote by name... but be able to leave comments/critiques anonymously. Speak out if you might like to see that.” 2:16:34 PM 6/18/07 “Sorry, I posted twice accidently.” 2:39:52 PM 6/18/07 “That's a good idea Lizs. Too bad more photos aren't submitted as well.” 8:29:01 PM 6/18/07 “I've got pretty tough hide myself.... I don't have much of an emotional investment in any one photograph I've shot. I belonged to a photo club for a few years, and part of our meetings was to share our work with the purpose of critiqueing one another. As for myself, constructive comments are always welcome, without worrying about hurting feelings. After all, this is a subjective medium. However, if you would rather not be associated with your comments, feel free to make them anonymously. Having said that, I have to mention that I believe part of the problem with the internet is the anonymity that it can provide, tending to strip some folks of the common decency that they may otherwise exhibit. The bottom line for me is this: The whole thing is for fun, and as far as I'm concerned, if you think one way would be more fun than another, have a ball.” 8:49:49 PM 6/18/07 “This was a difficult assigment for me to get into. No matter what I attempted to shoot, I couldn't make myself believe than any subject would look better with my horizon line all skeewampus. I guess I'm just not creative enough. I thought about recreating the following photo and pretending that it was askew, but in the end I don't really like it anyway so I opted not to.
8:55:15 PM 6/18/07 “I think you could play the angles on something like a person walking (backpacking, by golly) or biking... and play it into a rounded, skewed horizon, all filling up the photo frame quite nicely. Not that I managed to make quite the effort to do that. :-) But I can almost imagine it. And that's the mark of good photographers, I'm told (not saying that I am one!) -- is to envision that photo and then take it so it looks like that.” 9:44:02 PM 6/18/07 “This has been fun. I have a lot of room for improvement, but I enjoyed playing around with the concept. Paige, how come you didn't enter your askew reflection? I liked it a lot.” 12:01:35 AM 6/19/07 “bump” 2:50:18 PM 6/20/07 “Yeah Paige, it was the winner's choice, and the winner didn't submit an entry? What's up with that?” 8:28:57 PM 6/20/07 “Paige....where are you girl?” 9:25:11 PM 6/21/07 “Okay, I'm calling it! The winner this time around is Songbyrd601, with her very nice, even tilted sunset.
You can see all the submissions here. Songbyrd, as the winner of this round of photos, you get to choose our next subject/assignment.” 7:02:27 PM 6/23/07 “Thank you. I'm honored. My subject/assignment will be Flora. Have fun. It is the season for color.” 12:29:21 AM 6/24/07 “Congrats, T. Flora will be fun - unless the wind is blowing...........” 9:55:40 AM 6/24/07 “Wanna, I've seen your Flora pics. Your good.” 10:23:41 AM 6/24/07 “crap. so i'm really late on this one. i meant to respond to liz's comment a week ago see a lot of nice photos in the gallery, but not ones that I feel are necessarly served up best askew.
