Canoe Repair

I got a gouge in the back end of my canoe yesterday afternoon. It was a royal PITA, having to stay by the bank and stopping every 5 minutes to tip the canoe over. It could have been worse, I suppose. I could have been sinking instead in the middle of a lake I guess.

My canoe is a Coleman with polythylene construction. I'm hoping there's a patch kit put out by Coleman but I'm not currently having any luck finding it. Does anyone know of anything else I can use to patch the crack?

I guess after I get the hole fixed up I should think about putting some of those kevlar skid pads on the bottom at the front and back of the canoe.

Perhaps fiberglass would do the trick?

polyethylene canoe repair
I have owned a coleman scanoe since the early 80's had a lot of adventures in it fishing river running, A high school buddy and I ran the salt river at flood stage {235,000 cfps} wow what a ride. this part of the river runs thru phoenix arizona and is usually dry. By the way this is now illegal! A few years ago it developed a few cracks and I was told it couldn't be repaired then last fall I found a web site bullseyetradingpost.com that has a patch kit for polyethylene boats. I bought it followed the instructions and I was back in business. I took my two sons fishing in Sept. we had a great time caught a scanoe load of trout. this month I took that same high school buddy fishing in that same old scanoe and caught 20 fish the first day and 30 the second {we were doing catch and release} what a time we had good times and good memories. So don't get rid of it patch it. I have been very happy with the repair, no torhing the area to be repaired , no outrageous fumes, not difficult to do, If I can do it anyone can. I can't wait for our next trip in june! Hope this helps.

Do you per chance have an affiliation with this trading post? Nothing personal, but we get a lot of that here.

affiliations
No I don't but I understand the question. Iam an electrician by trade and have been for the last 29 years and my friend is in HVAC. In the past I had searched the web for a repair for my canoe I had found forums like this just thought I would pass the info along. On another note I going to showlow lake outside of showlow Az. on the sixth of june with my two sons never been there they say that the state record walleye was caught there. I have never fished for walleyes before, does anyone has suggestions for bait, techenique! any help would be appreciated. Thanks
