Just Made One
We attended Trail Days for the first time and enjoyed meeting a lot of hikers and seeing some great gear. One thing that I didn't see was a kilt.

I know Mountain Hardware made or makes one but I imagine that they are pricey and sort of on the heavy side. I am not an ultralight hiker by any stretch of the imagination, but I do see a need in a lighter weight, hiker friendly kilt.

I raced home from Trail Days today hoping that I had some Tyvek left over from other projects. I did and I whipped up a Kilt in a few hours.

I actually made two; one with pleats and one without. I made one with a velcro type closure and the other has velcro and an extrenal buckle.

I even managed to dye the material a "sea foam green" so it wont stand out so badly.

I know there are other threads on here about the benefits of Kilts; and I am sure there are plenty of wisecracks about them too.

I have pictures on my Myspace if you would like to see the beta version.

Think anyone would be interested in buying a Tyvek Kilt?

I have the MH kilt. Its light weight. Wicks well and dries really fast. Its extremely comphy to hike in. I think I paid about 30$

Yeah my girlfriend said I ought to iron it so the pleats would "set". It is very comfortable allows you to move well.

Don't make me get out my rainfly-kilt picture!

Mostly because I don't know where the hell it is.

People ask me about the blue silk ribbon I keep in my pocket.

It's the power of positive thinking I tell you.

Deep down, I'm an optimist. Really.

I'm waiting for just the right kilt, laying there all asleep in the grass on the side of the road...

It would have to be spectacular to get my ribbon.

Of course.

Completely inappropriate pictures, naturally.

With captions, and measurements.

I'll put them up on my flickr
