I voted for bush (meaning against kerry and gore) and that didn't work out so grand, did it? I Never took you as a lock stepper mutt. You have always struck me as a free thinker. In the end would my vote make that much difference?

I Never took you as a lock stepper mutt. - Nigal

I'm a pragmatist.

In the end would my vote make that much difference?

It's not you personally, Nigal. You're not a stupid person. It's the ideas, however, that are, and those ideas are apparently held by a lot of disaffected conservative/libertarians. The general election is not the time to teach the republicans a lesson - the cost is too high.

BTW - as bad as Bush has been, Kerry and Gore would've been worse.

So after reading this, the real queastion when it comes to voting, to me at least, is where should one's priorities be: with oneself or with the people?

How can you vote for a candidate who doesn't share an iota of your core beliefs? When is it okay to hold your nose and compromise your principles? Personally, I can't stand any of the candidates (again) and am tired of voting against people. So do I vote for me or for the majority? What did the Founding Fathers intend?

if you are voting your principles then you are voting for self interest. Nothing wrong with that, but if thats what you are doing then you need to look at the three candidates (Obama/McCain/Paul) and ask yourself where would putting your vote best protect your self interests. I think we are all grown up enough to know that voting for Paul in this election will not get him elected President. And its pretty obvious that the choice the democrats will put up will attempt a radical redirection of our countries path. The republican candidate some say is pretty much the same direction we have been going the last decade or so. Neither party will make the government smaller, one will tax us to death, the other borrow us to teh same place.

Not much of a choice, but at least the republican way rewards self achievement while the democrats penalizes.

What did the Founding Fathers intend
I think they meant to coordinate the states rather than command to them, otherwise , we would live in America with States.

No argument there, but do you ever see us going back to pre-civil war style government. A vote for Paul only hurts McCain. It will have no effect on the Obama vote. So you aren't washing your hands of both parties just republicans. So when you vote for Paul the net effect is to assist Obama. Maybe you guys can find the nadir voters and form a new party.

I feel what's in my best interests are also best for everyone. If I was just looking out for me I'd vote Obama and get everything from the gumbmint.

INTERVIEW WITH MCCAIN HECKLER ADAM KOKESH.

Kokesh, a passionate Ron Paul supporter, is 26 and a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. He served in Fallujah in 2004, grew up in Santa Fe, and currently lives in Washington, D.C. He has a website.

At the beginning of McCain's speech, Kokesh held up a sign reading, "McCain Votes Against Vets" and yelled, "Ask him why he votes against vets!" I followed as Kokesh was escorted out of the Excel Center by security, handcuffed by local police, and then briefly questioned while security debated whether or not the Secret Service would get involved. They did not. He was then escorted off the premises and allowed to go free. I interviewed him just outside the security gates, where he was greeted happily by antiwar protesters.

Why were you here in the Twin Cities? And how did you get into the Excel Center?

I was here in Minneapolis for the IVAW convention and thought I’d stick around for this.

Well I’ve been a Ron Paul supporter since the beginning of this campaign. Since before this campaign started, actually, I’ve been a fan of Paul. So I’ve got a lot of friends in the Ron Paul crowd. And he’s got a lot of delegates in there. More than the Republican Party is willing to admit. And the fact that I got into there is proof of that. One of Paul’s alternate delegates got me a guest pass.

Were you surprised to be handcuffed? Or are you just relieved you were not arrested or detained longer?

I was actually expecting to get manhandled much sooner. [During the heckling], someone was grabbing my belt and pulling on me. And then someone pulled the sign out of my hands.

Do you feel your protest was effective?

Well I wasn’t so much trying to interrupt the speech as make the point that McCain has a horrible voting record on veterans. What the Republican Party is doing with their take on the war in Iraq is spinning it in such a way that it’s about victory or defeat. But they can’t face up to the fact that you can’t win an occupation. In an occupation, everybody loses. What we’re calling for is an immediate withdrawal of all occupying forces in Iraq.

Who will you vote for in November?

Bob Barr.

Apparently that guy isn't too bright. There is no reason to ask McCain something he's addressed many times, unless he's either stupid or not paying attention. He should learn to research, especially if he's going to have his own website. McCain voted 'no' to the pork being pushed through on those bills.

As he mentioned in the speech, as President he would veto the pork until the lawmakers rewrote the bills to exclude the pork.

Great example of an uninformed idiot violin. Thanks!
