I don't know whether you're aware of it or not, but there's a video about the Army training mountain soldiers in the Mon that is being sold at the visitor center and Harper's store at The Rock. I bought a copy but have not had time to watch it yet. I'll let you know, but I seem to remember you had an uncle who trained down there in the war.

Yes, he was there for some weeks around April, '44.
They spent two weeks on The Rock and about four more doing maneuvers on the Dolly Sods plateau.

Hey MarkO, what kind of real world mileage do you get from your Xb?
Nigal

28 miles per Squirrel. The xb is 1.6 squirrels. so 40 or so give or take.
jackstraw

It's actually 2.4 squirrels. The website lists the mileage at 22/28. I was just wondering what real life mileage was.

Just saw this.....

We have a 2004 Xb with the Mighty 1.5 Engine with a screamin' 108 horsepower.

I have gotten as high as 38 mpg when driving at no more than 60 mph.
At interstate speeds of 70+ mph it's about 33-34 mpg.

The new model had the 2.4 liter engine.

Wow, that car would be friggin dangerous trying to merge on to some highways or to pass safely on a 2-lane road. I guess you just have to be blind to that kind of thing and take your chances, like geriatric drivers.

One must know one's limitations for sure.

With a five-speed transmission that little buggy does just fine if ya know how to work the gears.
I'm an old road dog who loves the road trip and I'm a veteran of years of urban/suburban combat driving.
The only thing one need fear is fear itself.

Nigal had a question about that car that I missed some days ago on this thread, Nimblefoof, ya ding-a-ling.

I just did a search, and apparently with manual it can do 10 second 0 - 60. That's actually not as bad as I thought it would be.

and its got a ton of room in it!

pretty cool for such an ugly fuggin vehicle!

Whats up MarkO!?

The engine is an angry little thing......Variable Valve Time with four valves per cylinder.

90 cubic inches and 108 hp.............it has a good power band and handles like a go kart.

It sure is funny looking and roomy as all hell.
My boys like to drive it.

I'm sure it would suck with an automatic transmission.

Hey Roamie !!
I'll be at Linville Gorge a week from today.

those are roomy vehicles. It's not really a car, not really van. It's a can.

That's the same engine I have in the Mighty Mighty Yaris. It's got pretty good pick up for a sewing machine powered car. I have the 4 speed auto and I get 35-42 MPG. I thought your Xb had the 2.4 liter engine which is what I was wanting to get the numbers on. I really like the looks of them since they rounded off the corners a bit.

I had a dream about you last night.
I dreamt that I met you and three other TT'ers coming out of my gym. You started talking about the future of the middle east and the battle against Israel. You were freaking me out.

Then you tried to steal my car.

I'm done with the Middle East.

Forget the car.
If you are in Kentucky I'd be more interested in your moonshine.
