The Trips Page is Dead

“It's been said by many that the folks who post on the otherside are backpacking wannabes and those here get out more...from what I read these days, they're about equal...

Most who actually HIKE, at least here in the Midwest, usually come here to post a trip or check out what's happening. I think sometimes private trips are posted more because the size of the group must be limited...I've seen some posted trips get lots of people which can be difficult to accomodate...Lizs has had quite a few trips and is brilliant at finding places that work well for large groups...she also puts an incredible amount of time into trip planning...not everyone has the time to do that these days...heck, work has become really frantic these days for me and it's getting tougher to take time off...

I go out alone if I need to get out and there are no trips happening...

People get older, move, lives change, family obligations may become more demanding...

The things we all still share are the desire to get outside, friends we have met on backpacking trips, awesome memories and hopes for future trips. Grab them when you can...life is short.

When I do get to join up with a group these days I'm ecstatic instead of just elated...”
