“I am looking for a family camping tent for my wife and my 13 year old son and me. It will be used ocasionally and for fair weather (I know weather is unpredictable). Do the fiberglass pole tents hold up under moderate weather? The aluminum poles modles are way expensive especially for the amount of use it will see.” 8:30:36 PM 6/04/07 “Yes they work fine in most any weather. Get you one of those kelty tents.” 8:35:26 PM 6/04/07 “Sears had a decent sized cabin tent for a reasonable amount..” 9:02:18 PM 6/04/07 “any tent your kid can't put up for you, is too big. get two smaller tents, one for you and your wife, one for the kid(s). then tell him, if he's really cool and pitches BOTH tents, you'll let HIM start the fire! later on when he smartens up, you'll have to come up with something else. for easy family carcamping, eureka and coleman are fine. don't blow wads of money.” 2:39:19 AM 6/05/07 “I just bought a coleman tent for carcampig 8x10 for only $49.” 4:29:05 AM 6/05/07 “I agree with Pamela. Get two smaller tents which will be 3000 times easier to set up and transport, then go to Wal-Mart and get the 10' X 10' "easy up" gazeebo that's in the camping aisle (its blue). Put the entrances to the tents under the gazeebo and you'll have an area to sit and a dry entrance to the tents in case of rain. And a nice rain/shade shelter you can use year-round for other things like at the kid's soccer/football/softball games.” 8:37:25 AM 6/05/07 “I'm a big fan of the 7x7 dome tent, e.g., http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?memberId=12500226&productId=39192865 I've had a similar Coleman and also a $18 Timber Creek that all kept me dry in storms. The 7x7 is a sturdy size staked and guyed, and not too big for family backpacking. Much bigger domes are heavy and blow around in the wind. The key is good fly coverage and a bathtub style floor.” 8:48:26 AM 6/05/07 “I don't know about all Eurekas, but the one I had (Exos?) was a humidity factory. You'd be as well off to sleep in the rain.” 8:55:43 AM 6/05/07 ““I don't know about all Eurekas, but the one I had (Exos?) was a humidity factory. I've never had a condensation problem with any of the double wall Eureka tents.” 8:59:18 AM 6/05/07 “I have never been a fan of single walled tents.” 9:12:11 AM 6/05/07 “Hey, Zeus!! Ya know, like......don't #&%!$ with me or I'll shove a lightning bolt up yer ass!” 9:12:57 AM 6/05/07 “We had condensation in our Eureaka! timberline occasionally. Mostly when the humidity outside was close to 100%. I'm a huge fan of the Kelty three man tents. The Vortex and Gunnison are both wonderful, fairly light, and very roomy. They are built like brick poophouses and withstand incredible winds and storms. Close out prices are usually around $150-$180 on them. But looky here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Kelty-Vortex-4-Three-Season-4-person-Tent-102-x-84_W0QQitemZ170118486074QQihZ007QQcategoryZ36119QQcmdZViewItem last edited: 6/05/07 10:22:23 AM” 10:20:42 AM 6/05/07 “Hey Eb13 I have a Eddie Bauer 4 person Timberline style tent with a vestibule I'll let go for $40.00 plus actual shipping cost. I can almost stand up in it and its plenty roomy for 3. In really good shape. Email me @ my profile email iffn your interested.” 12:11:21 PM 6/05/07 “I just bought a coleman tent for carcampig 8x10 for only $49.” fingerlakeshiker 4:29:05 AM 6/05/07 Most campgrounds don't allow pigs...I don't think...I could be wrong tho.... lol..hahahahhahahahahhaaaa..I do love typos :)” 12:18:30 PM 6/05/07 “You may want to look at these coleman tents. http://www.coleman.com/coleman/colemancom/detail.asp?product_id=9232-107 You get 2 - 7' x 10' tents with a canopy that connects between them for less than $100. Our scout troop bought some of them for the younger scouts for camporees. They have seemed to stay dry in the rain. You can only buy them at Dick's Sporting Goods though. This gives you the option of pitching them apart if there is only smaller tent pads.” 12:52:25 PM 6/05/07 “Vas ist das brick poophouse?” 1:02:48 PM 6/05/07 “Sass: "I'm a huge fan of Kelty three man tents". Funny, you never struck me as a large person. Then again, you never struck me...at least not yet:) Oh, and, just what the heck would you be doing in a tent with three men? last edited: 6/05/07 1:05:03 PM” 1:04:13 PM 6/05/07 “I'm gigantic Nimblefoot. And wouldn't you like to know! Tilt, you've never heard of a brick #&%!$ house? Must be a midwestern saying.” 1:23:56 PM 6/05/07 “Families should not be allowed in the backcountry!” 2:36:37 PM 6/05/07 “ya'll are sure good for a giggle today!” 3:21:08 PM 6/05/07 “Well I bring my pet pig camping every year! lol” 4:58:18 PM 6/05/07
