you could not have asked for better weather. they said it was going to thunderstorm all 4 days but it did not. I went up the day before everyone else. I got to do alot of swimming at the Milford Beach. As I was pulling into the last leg of my trip i was greeted by a turkey that would not get out of the way till I threaten to eat him. The campsite that conk suggested was perfect. thank you so much for the idea!

everyone else arrived Fri night. spirits were passed around and enjoyed.

Sat we set out for the trip. after shuttling the cars we all took off. everyone went at there own pace. I was treated to many different animlas. ground hogs, deer, bald eagle, dead eels, ducks, geese, bear in camp (ony heared him and then saw paw prints, herons, osprey, and I have to tell you that Matt (twinks boyfriend) is the best person to take on this kind of trip. He knew what everything was. I think he got a kick out of teaching me too!

twinks and Matt got to enjoy all the rocks HAHA

there were a few bumps in the trip, but all in all I will only look back and smile about it.
i am ready to go back and do this trip. i want to try for a much longer trip.

Mapleleaf -

The object in the photo on the first page of the album captioned "What is this?" is a stonefly nymph - major Delaware River trout food. The reason the "shell" was empty in the later photo was because the stonefly shed it's nymphal skin/shuck when it hatched.

cool but hatched into WHAT?

The nymph hatched into an adult stonefly. The nymphs live in the water, then hatch into adults and fly away to eventually mate and lay eggs in the water. They leave the shuck behind as they molt into adults.

It goes on all the time on the streams, millions or even billions of mayflies mate over the water each day, lay eggs and die afterward.

Mental image

Mapleleaf swimming in bug semen.

Yep mayflies are bugs, not fish.

But the fish do their equivalent of banging in the water too.
And where do the fish go potty? both #1 and #2 ??
