Took Cameron to Grayson for a one nighter.
We had a great time, even thou on the pictures it really didn't look like it.

Not sure why he's crying? All he carried in his backpack was the mat and his sleeping bag...oh yea and a light rain jacket.

Pictures are here:

Glad Cameron enjoyed it.
Maybe next time he'll carry all your stuff!

Are the Rhododendron in peak full bloom? Does it still have another week left? Two weeks?

oh I don't know, really don't think there's another 2 weeks left. Maybe MAYBE one week. They were in full bloom. It was pretty amazing.

I have never seen as many ponies there then this weekend either. Normally you really have to search for them. this time, momies with babies everywhere. At one spot we counted 30 ponies.

Nice trip, Gem!

Cameron does look kinda straight-faced most of the pictures, but he's smiling in at least one.

Only one of my three boys is always eager to backpack, the other two have not always been happy to "be there".

He was tired but I know he had fun. You should've saw how excited he was when he saw the deer jumping across the trail or when he found the bird eggs.

he could've carred less for the ponnies thou. :( Too much horse crap he said.

You should have showed him how much fun it is to throw dried horse crap at people.

My kids did that at Assateague Island some years ago when they were still little schits.........same kinda stinkin' horses.
They had a few horse turd "battles" and would then jump in the ocean.

Haha, that kid was going for the "too cool for backpacking" look! Except for the one you got of him sleeping, awwww. ;-)

LOL lyra. Yupp! did you all see his Tshirt? thebackpacker.com babeeee!!!

Marko...I'll find another trail for him that's easy. I think he'll really going to love cumberland Island. Just hard to get a spot there.

Hmmmm.........yeah, I remember seeing Em & Yam & Gem hiking "up" that really wicked hill on your Cumberland Island trip report.

He's probably not ready for the Flat Rock Run Trail to Roaring Plains that you and ENS and I did in December '04.

I guess it's a photo blog.

yeah sacco, I love those ponies. One of them was peed of that weekend. It's a little scarry when you're on the trail and a pony comes galopping towards you.
