Adirondacks in early July
I want to go hit the High Peaks region again in early July but have heard that the black flies make it almost not worth it. Anybody have any experience with the dacks over July 4th or so?

thanks!

I was there once in very late July.....'03. As I recall, The BF season had been extended due to climate conditions. It was the end but hey were damn bothersome. I would never go early July.

Black flies are winding down in the southern regions, but the deer flies are starting up. The main problem will be other campers. The 4th is one of the most popular times and finding legal camping sites may be difficult.

The deer flies here in central N.Y. are already getting terrible.
