North to Alaska

“As most of you probably know, I just finished my NOLS Instructor course. So, hello to everybody, how have things been?

I recently finished my staffing interview and picked up 2 courses out of the Alaska Branch. So, one week from today I head up to Palmer, AK for a 10 day camp out, followed by a 35 day backpacking course. Don't ask me any of the specifics, because I don't really know. I'm psyched for this step, it all seems so surreal right now.”

“I couldn't ask for anything more, backpacking with no responsiblility and getting paid for it. My first contract is over and I just spent 6 days backpacking in the Chugatch Mountain range of Alaska. What an incredible place! I have just gained a great love and appreciation for this place.

Currently I'm enjoying my one day off before I prepare to head out on my next contract in the Wrangalls of eastern Alaska.
