You know, the shell part so that you can eat the soft insides...

You know, just incase I have the need to eat one.

The way we used to do it..get it to bite a stick and then crack it in the head with a baseball bat. Cut along the bottom and top shell to separate. Cut out any read meat you can find and any of the organs you want to eat. We would fry the meat in bacon grease leftover from breakfast. Good eatin.

did you know you can pick up a snapping turtle by its tail? they can not reach that far around to bite you

I have not done it but I have seen it done. pretty cool.

I used to find a thick stick and put it in the mouth then pick it up by the tail and put it in the cage. they are very cool animals. they like to dog holes and hide

Dog holes?

I have carried a few snappers by the tail to get them out of the road before they become roadkill.

I'm sure an upcoming episode of Man Vs Wild will cover this topic.

Bear catches said turtle, crosses three raging rivers, climbs above the tree line, strips naked and rubs himself down with glacier ice and uses his male member and a piece of quartz to create a fulcrum to pry off the shell. Then not cook it and eat it.

The turtle or the aforesaid lever for the fulcrum?

I picked up one by the sides to show the kids and found out that the little darlin's have glands near their legs that give off the most wonderful smelling stuff...puts a skunk to shame...

Once you figure out how to eat the insides, figure out (for me) how to successfully preserve the shell. I had a dead snapper last year and tried it, but it didn't work out...

Yo Twigs...

The only time I've ever seen ti done was one my dad killed years ago. He just took a hatchet, and gave the underside a few good whacks, and then "kersplat" - turtle guts.

I wish it were that simple - or maybe I'm simple...
A snappers shell is bone and full of marrow that is very hard to get out. And drying it caused the bones to curl and separate...impossible to glue back together..

I should have boiled it...

I've never seen it do that but I have seen the outer "scales" dry up and flake off in big squares.

is this thread you created related in any way to the "little crazy mike" thread you also made at about the same time?

I've got it!
The snapper was injected with SC and CMB's embryo, and now she needs to move baby to a bigger host, but can't get the dam shell appart! Butter hurry up before you end up with a turtle baby, sc.

Maybe you should have used one of those rats instead...

Before Bear ate the turtle on Man vs Wild he claims he drank the blood to replace electrolytes he lost in heat of the Everglades. They didn't show him doing it, but he had all blood on the front of his tee shirt. It could have been fake blood just for the show. I guess the point was you could do that in a survival situation.

what about those fake bear claw marks on the tree. the claw marks looked like triangles cut witha knife. blood was fake, the show is fake!
