Magic Stove “Have any of you ever used or even heard of this stove? I just happened to see it my local grocery and for 5.99 I thought I would check it out. I don't have much confidence in it's boil time but have been brainstorming over some of it's parts for use as an alcohol stove. www.scientificutility.com last edited: 6/23/07 7:45:38 AM” 7:42:44 AM 6/23/07 “Hey spam I bought one of those when I first started bp'ing , but I've never used it. Actually all I have is the fuel canister, not the actual stove. The store I got it at didn't have the stove to go with it, and I actually thought it was just a different brand of sterno at the time of purchase. It just has a flame bigger than a candle, and works kinda like an oil lamp. The wick just hangs down in the liquid. If anyone uses these let me know and I will try to get it to them as I have no use for it. Too heavy for my tastes.” 8:58:59 AM 6/23/07 “MAGIC FLAME cans are stackable to maximize shelf space For Indoor & Outdoor Use sounds cool....but how much does it weigh?????” 1:17:30 PM 6/23/07 “Liek 3 pounds or something (ok maybe a little exageration). The one I have is a heavy steel can full of liquid. You may as well stick with what you have for BP at least. I could see how it may be usefull in a home emergency kit though.” 1:27:00 PM 6/23/07 “might be good for basecamping. also, when there is a burn ban in the black river state forest in wisconsin they often will permit you to cook with "sterno" but no other stove or fire... no fuel to burn and no sparks from this type of fuel i would guess.” 1:34:06 PM 6/23/07
