Looking for a team
Hello
I'm a beginner. I'm looking for a group of people that do hiking more profesionally. I would like to join such a team. I'm from New Jersey, north NJ. Even if you are a group of people taht like to hike in your laisure time. Write back to me.

Are you looking for a group specifically from NJ? I mean you have pretty much stumbled into the right place here. Check out the trips page. There is a trip somewhere almost every day. We is some backpackin mofo's! There are trips from coast to coast and for any skill level. Most folks here are eager to help the beginner, and willing to leanr from the experienced, even though we do tend to get pretty opinionated sometimes.
I don't know how many of us can actually say they do it "professionally" but we definately get out there on a regular basis.

So, welcome!

"profesionally"

what does that mean? I could have been making money for all my hiking trips?
who would pay me?

meangreen, your discription of us is right on the money. there should be a warning that is flashed before newbies sign into TT

LMAO

Maybe someone should explain, or at least try to explain, how typical the Drunken-ferst is to most TT trips, since that is the first trip on the list close to NJ. He might get the wrong idea. Or not

Oops... the Bob Marshall butt kicker is first. My bad.

I can't afford to take along amature whelps anymore. I lost two on the last trip b/c they didn't listen. Talk to me once you're ranked and we'll see.

Is this a reference to the cannibalism thread?

First of all thank you for all those great responses. I must admit that I did not get some of your humor. Maybe because I was not born in this country. It seems that some of you do not hike at all but only write on TT such a bull. One more, by professional I ment a person that hikes a lot and is able to answer to some of the questions to the person that thinks that there is always something more to learn. For those that associated a professional with the money- go ahead and do it. It seems that you only know how to complain. Now that I feel that I'm in the family, once again hello to All. :)

wow we just got spanked by a newbie. well sorry dude, but with an attitude like yours, you can stay in New Jersey. taking on newbies can be fun and also a pain in the butt. my last trip with two newbies turned out very bad and it will be a while before i am willing to jump right in.

if you have questions, put them out there and I am sure you will get them answered for FREE

Maybe some of you are right. Sorry for my attitude. I simply got suprised that there were so many negative responses to my first post. Thanks to all that gave me some hints. Hopefully see you on trails. It is obvious that no one likes words such as professional and beginner.
Good luck to ALL.

don't be too quick to jump to conclusions. Check out the articles and reviews in the site. Scan through some of the other threads.

There has been some trolling going on and you may have gotten caught in the backwash. These are good folks who know a heck of a lot and share willingly when they have the chance. But sometimes popping in without spending some time to read the culture is not the best way to do it.

i dont think anyone was being negative. smartarses, yes. negative, no. we all know each other pretty well because we hike together often, and so are prone to clowning around
