A question for Elise.

Why would you want us?

I think all of us would be curious to know. Did someone do a marketing study? Did someone realize that most of us are nearly famous in our own right? Or are we just a huge scientific study of the paranoid schizophrenic?

What sets thebackpacker.com apart? Why not just steal the idea and make your own? I'm assuming the answer is because you actually bought us, which brings me back to my original question.

“lots of reasons, here's some:

the topic of backpacking falls inline with the kind of sites we are interested in, because of the subject material - we, at the office, are mostly the outdoorsy types.

the site has good quality content, which is both original and honest, and provides a service to the community (reviews, trip gatherings, communications with fellow backpackers etc.)

because the site has a good user base, we feel like the cost of buying it is a worthwhile expense, and that over the long term we expect to make that money back

although we could rebuild the whole thing from scratch, the man hours that would require would be more expensive than the cost of purchasing it already made for what both sides agree is a fair price (don't ask how much, i have no idea, and i wasn't planning on asking)”

“Elise -- I've only actually been out that way once. I got to drive out on the Olympic peninsula a little.. (while on a business trip to Seattle) .. but never got all the way out to Cape Alava. I'm impressed that you recognized it immediately though.

I've been wanting to come out that way again, and still hope to do so if we ever hold a west coast cooking contest.

nope, just testing the line and getting it out of the way so we can stop being a bunch of nervous nellies. Also, I wanted to see if Matt was pulling a hoax. If that were the case trolling a troll shouldn't be a bannable offense. If it wasn't a hoax, I was hoping my worst punishment might be a temporary ban with perhaps time spent serving as your cabana boy. Commenting on it so often was false bravado trying to mask my nervousness about possibly getting a permanent ban. That would really suck.

BTW, I have tried to point out to people that it is elise and not elsie, especially when people tried to present Elsie the Cow's pic as who our new webmistress is. Those people are the real trouble makers. I am just a lovable oaf.
