The camping at RV is remote. You get to the campground by kayak or canoe, or by backpacking 4+ miles. The only facilities that I know of are pit toilets and water pumps.

Lots of people kayak and boat there, and it's a large and very deep reservoir. People have drowned there but I don't know what the "danger" factor would be.

The public beach and picnic area gets very very crouded, but if you like mountain biking or day hiking, they have a great trail. DO a google search for Round Valley State Park NJ and you should find more info.

Round Valley is about 180ft deep, but anything over 10 feet is sort of academic.

They do get thunderstorms coming through with fairly high winds, probably do not want to be far out from shore when lightning is about, specially in a metal boat (Alum)

2 weeks sound like a long time for Round Valley camping.

Most drownings occur in early spring aggravated by hypothermia. The deep water stays cold much longer.

I grew up just over Cushetunk Mountain from there. Pennsy's description is pretty accurate.

I can't imagine spending two weeks in the camping area. There are some great trails in the surrounding area, but you'd have to get to the trailhead somehow.

Nearby Spruce Run Resevoir has car camping if you want showers and what not.

We used a catamaran to get to the campsites at Round Valley once and got stranded in the center by the proverbial calm before the storm. The wind finally picked up about the time the lighting strikes started. It as a wild ride to shore!
