I am jonzing to get out in them.

This now means that my family of 4 . .each has their own boat. Although I certainly have paddled a single many times . .I have never had one to call my own.

My wife has been paddling a Wilderness Systems Shaman. A woman's seakayak.

We started out with a Wilderness Systems Pamilico 165T(andem) for me and the two boys. A monster boat that we got rid of as soon as my oldest could paddle an:

Acadia Scout (by Perception) small boat 10 foot long that is built so that a kid can track well and have a chance to keep up with Mom and Dad:

And now we have the two new boats.

My youngest (9) will paddle the Scout, the older boy the Tsunami, Mom , her shaman and me the Elaho.

Now to get on the wate.

I hear you on getting rid of the monster boat...now that we each have our own, no more hefting that 70 pound beast...

I THREW UP......
...Twice!! Yep, finally went on a 5 hour river kayak expedition....and threw up. I've done 2 to 3 hr sea kayaks with no problems, but never paddled a river one.

D@mn 13 footer kept on wanting to turn on me....and kept on rocking me. And the river was very shallow at some points...I would say 1/3 of the trip....1 foot of water, so I kept on staring at the paddle blades to avoid hitting the bottom all the time....and after an hour or so, I got nauseated. Plus all those years of dragonboating have trained me to look at the blades so all the dragonboaters' blades enter and exit the water at the same time....

My brother told me to look at the trees, horizon, anything...but don't look at the blades. That helped abit....but it was too late...I had the dizzy spells. Oh well...at least I fed the fishes.....
