Hot Weather Gear find!View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 14 of 14 messages posted.
“I was browsing the local super walmart (shuddup) and I found something that has gear possibility. It's called Aqua Cool. It looks like a bandana scarf (only skinny) that you wrap around your neck to help keep you cool. How it works is that it has these little crystals inside that when you soak in water for a few minutes get cold for a couple days at a time without having to wet it again. Its very light weight so I thought what the heck, it might be nice to have for warm weather hikes, It cost around $3” 7:06:40 PM 7/01/07 “They make vests of the same type of arrangement and have for years. They are used by construction workers, costumed performers and other folks who are exposed to severe heat for long periods of time.” 8:53:29 PM 7/01/07 Hey SC “(Jesus loves you).” 7:02:29 AM 7/02/07 “I think the first time I saw them was about 10 years ago...they work really well but it has to be in the 90's before I want to wear one...otherwise, they feel too cold and clammy to me...” 8:23:51 AM 7/02/07 “I used on on my desert hike a few years ago and thought it was the best thing since slice bread.” 8:25:19 AM 7/02/07 “They don't work so well if it's really humid though.” 8:26:39 AM 7/02/07 “imagine that, SC would use something that works with crystals ;)” 8:29:44 AM 7/02/07 “they get nasty too, covered in dirt...everything sticks to it...blah” 9:54:34 AM 7/02/07 “Salt also causes the water retaining media to slowly degrade.” 10:24:20 AM 7/02/07 “I've had very good luck with mine bought at REI- used it at the Rennaisance fair when I was performing and at Bonnaroo. It has held up so far.” 6:21:25 PM 7/02/07 “gypsy dancers don't sweat so that don't count.” 6:24:19 PM 7/02/07 “SC is a Commie!” 6:54:50 PM 7/02/07 “OK.” 6:59:36 PM 7/02/07 “don't waste your money” 7:25:57 PM 7/02/07
