Tour Guide: it isn't dry you scared the water away.

Tourist: Sir, not two weeks ago you told me it was wet and beautiful.

Tour guide: But look at the beautiful scenery

Tourist: The Scenery has not a thing to do with it this lake is DRY, Dehydrated, it has dessicated and is evaporated;

You guys visiting Ithaca later this month, notice that each of the gorges has flatter spots on the sides at several points coming up, that's where the gorge stopped until whatever bigger version of Cayuga Lake did this and the gorge had to start cutting deeper to where it is today.
