Both were designed specifically to wreak mass amounts of carnage with the ease of simply holding down a trigger, and as such have absolutely no place in civilian hands. - phantomSoul Yet another person who is ENTIRELY ignorant of firearms who thinks he knows what's best. I think if the sheeple were just better informed about firearms, phatomSoul's kind of emotionally-based thinking would drastically be reduced.” 7:20:15 AM 7/11/07 “Mapes...(and I think Tilt remembers this) we had a female officer who was attacked by three of the Black Klansmen (Temple Islam), her back was severly injured and her weapon was taken. The only thing that saved her life was a citizen stopped and pulled a shotgun. Sorry the problem is that many times sworn officers won't be there or they may not fully accept the responsibilities for enforcing the law. Often times they may become unwilling to carry out the more "hard parts" of their job because they either have a different set of values...or they are just lazy.” 7:26:38 AM 7/11/07 “boobs” 7:43:55 AM 7/11/07 “beer” 7:44:10 AM 7/11/07 “Mutt, Maple had signed on to my Blackberry. Those posts are mine, not hers. Leave her out of it. While we are at it, why do you talk down to her? And don't lower yourself with the lolololol. Don't you have any self-respect?” 7:47:58 AM 7/11/07 “Nigal, I hope you never have to use that f_cking thing! But, if you do, be prepared to live with whatever consequences come with it...That's all I am going to say! I will take my chances without it.” 7:52:06 AM 7/11/07 “tree, even tho hes being an ass about it, i gotta agree with mutt about getting twig signed up for some self-defense classes, preferably focusing on womens self defense. and some pepper spray would be good, as long as she can use it effectively.” 7:52:08 AM 7/11/07 “I didn't argue that, Crash. It's already been stated.” 7:52:57 AM 7/11/07 “Do you think Mapleleaf is special or something, treebeard? I'd "talk down" to anyone with such a ridiculous, emotionally based mindset. Look at phantomSoul, for instance. So, if that's actually you saying that, then fine - I'm talking down to you. Fear based on ignorance is no basis for forming a substantive opinion. The lolololol is just amusing.” 7:53:52 AM 7/11/07 “I didn't argue that, Crash. It's already been stated oh ok didnt think you had. was just seconding the point. twiggy is such a sweet girl (least she was last time i saw her 3 years ago who knows maybe shes changed), id hate to see anything happen to her Do you think Mapleleaf is special or something, treebeard? i would imagine he does, seeing as how he married her. me, i dunno. i think shes just a d.o.r.k.” 7:57:18 AM 7/11/07 ““Oh and by the way, if there is some sort of subtle difference between an assault weapon and a just a semi-automatic rife, it's trivial in the context of this discussion. "The only thing that saved her life was a citizen stopped and pulled a shotgun." XL How does one "pull a shotgun"? Is that like "yanking a crank"?” 7:58:13 AM 7/11/07 “Does that make maple a special dork?” 8:01:22 AM 7/11/07 “Marky Mark...if you don't understand...you never will” 8:10:53 AM 7/11/07 “Hey now, Mark shoveled sh*t in the national guard decades ago. That makes him an expert.” 8:13:48 AM 7/11/07 “Another failed attempt at getting laid put you in a grouchy mood, Mutt? Go back to comparing ammo, Goober!” 8:15:38 AM 7/11/07 “Mutt I am thinking Tree's hand turned him down again...BUMMER” 8:27:55 AM 7/11/07 “Expert in that area, XL?” 8:45:06 AM 7/11/07 Yo Phantom........... “Oh and by the way, if there is some sort of subtle difference between an assault weapon and a just a semi-automatic rife, it's trivial in the context of this discussion. Both were designed specifically to wreak mass amounts of carnage with the ease of simply holding down a trigger, and as such have absolutely no place in civilian hands. Well said dude.....” 11:54:22 AM 7/11/07 “Semi Auto will not wreack carnage by holding down the trigger...it will fire one shot (on the m-4 now you get the max 3 shot burst on "automatic" of whatever they are calling it)> And Tree....how you "handle" your problems is none of my concern. (LOL)” 12:53:57 PM 7/11/07 “Mutt, you're just jealous because I had my very own M-60.” 1:01:08 PM 7/11/07 “Semi Auto will not wreack carnage by holding down the trigger - XL It just goes to show the staggering ignorance of people like phantomSoul.” 1:01:43 PM 7/11/07 “WHAHAHAHAHA...the feel good short of the summer..... http://my.break.com/media/view.aspx?ContentID=329375 I love the little wiggly crawl he does....” 1:06:11 PM 7/11/07 “Does that satisfy your sadistic nature, X-man?” 1:12:00 PM 7/11/07 “LOL...no it is strangely satisfying to see one of society's predators scared. Don't know if you have ever been on the receiving end of one of these scum, but its really cool when you can make em see what FEAR is. (LOL)” 1:15:05 PM 7/11/07 “Yup, sadistic pleasure.” 1:18:11 PM 7/11/07 “XL, I think what MarkO is trying to stutter out is that the poor robber was just a misunderstood youth and that society caused him to behave like that, and he should be set free and given a large settlement, while the lady who shot him should be in prison for life.” 1:25:58 PM 7/11/07 “Amazing ain't it...he gets his sadistic pleasure from HEARING people will get their hard earned money stolen by government (TAXES there marky mark)...but gets broken up over some third rate piece of scum who brought a finger to a gun battle.” 1:47:25 PM 7/11/07 “I am merely commenting on how XLax, our resident sadist, takes pleasure in seeing a human being get shot. Do you watch "snuff films" as well?? I'm sure the law will deal with that low-life as they see fit and he will get what he deserves. Armed robbery is still against the law as it should be.” 2:05:16 PM 7/11/07 ““Nigal, I hope you never have to use that f_cking thing! But, if you do, be prepared to live with whatever consequences come with it...That's all I am going to say! I will take my chances without it.” The thought of having to shoot someone is not appealing at all Tree. Would it be hard to live with? Yeah, but at least I'd still be living. We've had this whole discussion before, you know where I stand, I know where you stand, I don't want to seem like I'm piling on ya so I'll just say I respect your point of view and your choice to not carry a gun and leave it at that.” 2:45:41 PM 7/11/07 “"[A] gun in the home is 22 times more likely to be used in a criminal, unintentional, or suicide-related shooting than to be used in a self-defense shooting" - Injuries and Deaths Due to Firearms in the Home You have to wonder what makes someone so terrified of their environment that they feel they need a shot magazine to feel safe.” 8:35:32 PM 7/11/07 “Guns are fun. Sorry if they scare you, Link.” 6:00:01 AM 7/12/07 “I'm sure the law will deal with that low-life as they see fit and he will get what he deserves. Armed robbery is still against the law as it should be.” MarkO You think so Marko? (LOL)..>Get what he deserves..meaning 3 squares a day and a bed, free medical care etc etc. I love it. In 3 to 5 he is walking the street free to prey on some other poor person...the victims still will have nightmares, she will still be shook up....yeah really what he deserves. I wish I could recount the number of times a killer or violent criminal got back on the street and returned to wreak havoc on those who put him away, or even returned to commit even more heinous crimes. In your job you don't get to deal with the results of the day to day horror of scum on the street. You have never sat with a victim's family and heard what torture the suspect committed on the victim. The worst part is seeing these predators literally get a "finger wagging "BAD BOY"" do the "I be so sorry" line and walk free. Most think they have the system figured out. They know how to play the game and get away with more and more.” 6:38:41 AM 7/12/07 “You have to wonder what makes someone so oblivious of society that they feel they don't need to protect their wife and kids.” 6:46:57 AM 7/12/07 “You're not though Nigal - as Violin pointed out you're actually placing them in more danger. As violin pointed out the gun is far more likely to be used to commit a crime, or be used as a method of suicide, or be involved in an accident, than to protect your wife and kid. That secure feeling it gives you is false - but then I guess that's your choice. Often feeling secure is more important than actualy being secure. I've contemplated getting a shotgun in the new house here, but then I realised I never want to be in the situation where I need to fire a gun in my own house - I live in a very safe area and I put a few more window locks in and got another dog. Of course every gun lover thinks he's a great shot, and he takes more precautions than the average Joe - it won't happen to him. If you want to protect your family in the home, making sure your house is secure if probably a better investement than planning to roll around the house like Rambo while weilding your gun like Dirty Harry. Still, it's your choice Nigal - but from your postings on the subject, your enjoyment of buying, having and using guns clouds your judgment on this one. Having said all this I can see how even the possibility of some homeowners having guns in the house lessens the chance of burglary for everyone, as the prospect of getting shot trying to climb through the window is a good deterrent.” 8:21:41 AM 7/12/07 “Way to skirt the issue, XL. I simply said that you are a sick mother#&%!$er for "enjoying" seeing some dirtbag get shot.” 8:28:12 AM 7/12/07 Gun Talk “I had a few weapons and though I enjoyed target shooting for a while, I lost interest. When the oldest of my boys reached teen years I became concerned with safety at home. Even though I kept ammuntion and magazines and bolts or anything that facilitated operation locked in a steel box, the curious--especially boys--can and will find a way. I trusted that my boys would not play with the weapons, but some of their friends I just couldn't be sure of. One kid in particular inspired me to finally get rid of the things. This kid had a penchant for lighting fires in the back yard with flammable liquids and such. Statistics do tell us that having weapons in the house make an accidental or suicidal death much more likely than a successful "home defense". For all you who may scoff at my liberal leanings, I am not a "pansie" when it comes to weapons. Though I was a part-time citizen soldier, I was a mountain infantryman none-the-less. For two of those four years I was a squad machine gunner and a member of my company's machinegun team. Practicing on extra weekends with the M-60 greatly improved my proficiency with that 23# beast. We would fire at 75(or was it 100?) meter targets with belts of 20 and 30 rounds with limited time and a belt change required. The trick to accuracy and speed was to "single" the weapon with a quick trigger squeeze. That way one could be sure of the bolt being locked to the rear after each shot. When the first belt was finished the change to the next belt was quick and easy without having to yank the bolt back thus losing valuable time and sight alignment. I also was required to qualify with the M-16 A1 rifle each year and I was above average, but not as good some of the truely phenomenal shooters in the company. Equally as important, if not more so, is the physical fitness required of an infantryman. In my opinion, a lot of "home gunners" fancy themselves warriors with delusions of valiantly fighting off "home invaders". I doubt that some of these guys could "shoot, move and communicate" in a real gunfight without falling out pysically or having a heart attack or stroke. Get a dog and pepper spray.” 9:21:25 AM 7/12/07 “marko's a gun nut” 9:24:02 AM 7/12/07 “I'm thinkin of gettin me a shotgun...” 9:26:12 AM 7/12/07 “Wow National Guard...lets see what someone said about one guy who was in the Air Guard? LOL Marko its your PERSONAL OPINION RIGHT? So why is it you feel necessary to push your PERSONAL opinion on everyone else? I am betting there are a lot of homes with MEDICINE...I wonder how many of those are misused in suicides?” 9:26:21 AM 7/12/07 “pills dont accidentally misfire when youre cleaning them” 9:31:05 AM 7/12/07 “I still haven't figured out how one can shoot themselves or others while cleaning a gun. I've read about it happening all the time, but it still doesn't make sense to me considering step #1 is to open the bolt.” 9:34:01 AM 7/12/07 “//troll font//thats because gun nuts are stupid// troll font off//” 9:42:10 AM 7/12/07 “as Violin pointed out you're actually placing them in more danger. As violin pointed out the gun is far more likely to be used to commit a crime, or be used as a method of suicide, or be involved in an accident, than to protect your wife and kid. - Y2 As violin *didn't* point out, Kellerman's conclusions have been thoroughly refuted. Sorry, you lose.” 9:44:41 AM 7/12/07 “step #1 is to open the bolt. - lumberzac Well, take a glock for instance. You have to pull the trigger while the gun is in battery to field strip it. Apparently it's too much for some people to check the chamber first.” 9:46:58 AM 7/12/07 “I still haven't figured out how one can shoot themselves or others while cleaning a gun. I think it is because of familiarity with firearms that is to blame. When you do thing repeatedly you simply stop thinking about what you're doing. I carry my gun so much that it can become very second nature when handling it and I have to stop myself and concentrate when clearing the weapon or loading it.” 9:47:27 AM 7/12/07 “In my opinion, a lot of "home gunners" fancy themselves warriors with delusions of valiantly fighting off "home invaders". I doubt that some of these guys could "shoot, move and communicate" in a real gunfight without falling out pysically or having a heart attack or stroke. - markO There certainly is that contingent, though understand they are a small minority of responsible gun owners.” 9:48:55 AM 7/12/07 “As violin *didn't* point out, Kellerman's conclusions have been thoroughly refuted. Sorry, you lose. Viodump should check the copy write date on his liberal playbook. I think he's behind.” 9:50:12 AM 7/12/07 “Lol - well you fecking need it where you live BM. You've prolly got bars on the windows there though right? I had them when I lived in SE. I had to run out the house a couple of times with the poker frm the fireplace when the bastards kept trying to steal my car, thankfully they didn't hantg around. Actually one of the reasons I wanted to move away from DC was the constant stream of crime I was seeing. It was all pretty minor stuff and nothing too bad happened in the end, but I just kept feeling either myself or my other half were going to get caught up in some nasty stuff sooner or later.” 9:52:15 AM 7/12/07 “What the hell do you need a gun for Bearmag? I thought places with gun bans and controls were safe?” 9:54:06 AM 7/12/07 “ I think he's behind. - Nigal No, I think it's pretty much a certainty that Violin knows that quoting Kellerman is a losing proposition from a factual standpoint. However, since it is so sensational, and the sheep eat it up uncritically (note Y2' did just this), violin knew he could score a cheap debate point.” 9:58:25 AM 7/12/07 Jump to Page << prev
