“$91,447 per theater for a whole weekend isn't dittly squat. That's an average of just over 13,000 people for a whole weekend. Hardly an example of everyone rushing together at one place and time. And it's a movie. How many of those who paid $300 plus for good seats would pay that for just lecture information and movie clips?

While $49 mill sounds big that just over 600,000 people. Hardly a stampede.”

“Memorial Day weekend is _not_ a prime movie time slot. In fact it is a pretty poor slot all told. Secondly, a record for documentaries is useful only for its context which is pretty bad. It is not difficult to sset a new record for documentaries as they rarely if ever do much box office.

The figures sound big but put in context they are barely noteworthy.

The official US box office is <24 mil as listed on yahoo movies. It was released to DVD in Nov 2006. If the 49 mil figures includes DVD sales as it usually would when figuring gross take that is an extremely poor showing even for documentaries.
