Not for a marathon backpack expedition, rather, to introduce my 15 and 11 year old to the place. We will do some day hiking and sight seeing and one overnight, a trip up to Canada, two nights at the Polebridge hostel, one in Whitefish, man, cant WAIT! We are scraping together to do this trip with bump tickets and yard sale income, but I hope they take home some new memories! It will be very different from 95+deg daytime 85deg nighttime wet hot heat of Middle Tennessee and especially so for 2 kids that havent ever been on a plane!

Mountains, clean air and water, active people!

Did I mention, that we didnt tell them either? Where we are going? We told them we are going on a surprise vacation and that is it. They have no clue, their world is a 250 mile circumference.

Gee gee geee.

Thats where my backpackin little 11 year old thinks we are going.... He likes the deep woods tho, and yet he has been beggin me to take him to work with me out in Colorado, so he will think that is where we are going.

thrifty, I am fully aware of that! ;) However we are also fine with the fact that she could totaly hate EVERYTHING so to us, anything she likes is a 150% bonus!

I also told her that where ever we gohow much fun she has is up to her.

I could bring it, but that would mean I'd have to carry it......sigh. My choice would be the 17-40.

I met a teenage girl in the Teton backcountry. She was brought screaming and kicking on a week-long family hike, but was soon sold on the goods of bp'ing. After a couple days, she was first up and on the trail. In fact, I sat with her for quite a while as the rest of her family staggered to our perch atop Paintbrush Divide.

Oh gawd Gojo, you just reminded me of the girls in high heels HPM and his crew encountered on their way up Mt. Whitney.

Good luck with your trip, Tnprime. Hope that all of you have a good time. Make sure you post your pictures when you get back for all of us.
