So, he married a younger woman
It's been decades since we've had a married presidential candidate from a southern state whose way of asking a woman out on a date wasn't to just drop his pants and say "How 'bout a smooch for lil' Bubba?

Last I heard, Fred was in discussions to possibly hire Tim Griffin to work on his campaign. You remember Tim (former US Atty in Arkansas). He's got a pending appointment to plead the 5th before John Conyers committee re: removing black soldiers from voter registration rolls while they were serving in Iraq. That would be multiple felonies.

Tim was working for Karl Rove at the time.

Is Tim still being considered for the job with Fred?

I like Fred. He's smart and fairly straight forward. Would I vote for him? Not so sure.

Fred didn't follow the party line on campaign finance reform or abortion --- but look what the hard core has to choose from.

I'd think the Republicans might do better with someone with a little less baggage:

Fred Thompson Aided Nixon on Watergate

Not all would put a heroic sheen on Thompson's Watergate role

I have a Nashville connection who worked in a restaurant there some years ago.

Fred would show up after hours and meet with shady characters who had briefcases containing gold bullion, the type of little gold bricks that casinos use.

Old Fred never paid for food or drinks there.

Do we really need a president named "Fred"?

It seems that they were indeed moving lots of cash and the party in question even buried some cash.

There was some conntection to the river boat gambling business and our boy Fred was there a lot.

Yikes. I didn't realize this Fred Thompson was the Watergate Fred Thompson. Sounds like ol' Tricky Dick didn't think too highly of him, even though he was playing ball:

"Our approach is now, we've got a pretty good rapport with Fred Thompson. He came through fine for us this morning," White House counsel Fred Buzhardt says on a tape from June 6.

"He isn't very smart, is he?" Nixon asks.

"Not extremely so, but --," Buzhardt says, interrupted by the president.

"But he's friendly," Nixon says.

"But he's, he's friendly," Buzhardt echoes.

"Good."

A few days later, White House aides are heard saying Thompson will be even more helpful than his boss, Sen. Baker, and that Thompson agreed to secretly help undercut the credibility of White House whistleblower John Dean.

"They've finally got [Dean] under oath," Buzhardt says on a tape from June 11. "Uh, Thompson will work with us. So, good."

"He isn't very smart, is he?" Nixon asks.

"Not extremely so, but --," Buzhardt says,

Ha ha!!

The Repubs don't like 'em too smart, just so long as they can play the part of president and BS the public and make them feel good about it.

In the Criminal Justice System the people are represented by two separate, yet equally important groups. The police who investigate crime and the District Attorneys who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.
