We had a guy from Illinois get a woodtick the other day. Wasn't attached to him, just crawling around looking for a home. He insisted his wife take him to the ER. Citidiots!

Not joking.

After I recover emotionally from last night, I will tell you of my one evening stint as a paid designated driver (shudder).

Now that's funny. At my other home in PA, we have the same problem with the NY and NJ people who come west to the Pocono mountains. We call them "Mupfers", as in...

"I'm mupfer the weekend."
I've noticed the same thing about the IL crowd that comes up here to play. Oh well, best you can do is play along I guess.

my ex husband was the first to tell me about FIBs, flatlanders and berry pickers. I am a transplant, but think I should be accepted soon since it's been 18 years now....

Only 18 years? You haven't got a chance...Bill's been in this area almost 30 years and is still not considered a local. Now I, while I wasn't even raised here, am definitely considered a local. My family were here when the town began and ran the original general store in the 1850's, they also built the first bank and first home with running water and electric wiring...anyone who wasn't here before the turn of the 20th century is considered a newby...

I was born and raised here, left in the early 60's, returning a little more than 5 years ago. I am not exactly considered an out of towner but not a local either. They're not quite sure I should be trusted, perhaps because the lack of incest in my family (so far as I know).

I am NOT a flat lander, I was born in Alaska, raised for the most part (with a brief stint living in Germany and Texas) in California.......

I've been in Indiana for 5 years now, and let me tell you...flatland is WIERD and I shall never get used to it I don't think...LOL

Mata, I guess I'll keep waiting, I'm not going anywhere soon.
Nimblefoot, I bet you're right, the incest would have probably helped you.
SC sorry, flatlanders refers only to illinoy-ans... nobody up here pays much attention to folks from Indiana, don't they vacation somewhere else???
