Hiked the Yosemite High Passes Loop last week. 46 miles 4 days. Awesome scenery and horrendous skeeters.

Do you have a list of where you started, where you camped each night? Nice photos! What a trip.

Hi Idaho Bob,

Our Trailhead was Quartz Mountain, bumpy dirt road that takes forever to drive. Knocked of a few miles of hiking though.

Camped First night at Breeze Lake around 9 miles in

2nd night at unnamed Lake below Isberg Pass, roughly 12 miles (fish)

3rd night at Upper Ottoway Lake about 11 miles (absolutley beautiful but no fish, Lower Ottoway had plenty)

last day out to Quartz Mountian, roughly 13 miles.

We tried to do that a couple years ago. We went in at Quartz Mtn and hiked to Chain Lakes. Where it proceeded to storm for two days. Lightening, Thunder, Torrential Rain, so we lost a day.

We determined to not let that stop us. We went over Fernandez Pass and stayed at Rutherford Lake. The weather was still sketchy so we stayed a couple days and bailed on the rest of the trip. Very disappointing.

Oh yea....I mercifully forgot about the mosquitos after a while. Check out my photos on webshots. I have a picture of them swarming.

Thanks Randall! The sketters can be pretty bad on parts of the JMT(flys too). A headnet and a can of Ultrathon is your best defense.
