Gizmeaux' Excellent Adventure

I returned to the truck after doing an hour in the library to find only Sarabelle. I knew immediately that Giz was gone. I leave the windows open if I don't leave the truck/AC running, and often find the dogs in the nearby shade upon my return. The dogs keep a close watch for me if they do so decide to vacate Tiffany, but beat me back to her every time.

No Giz. Only Sarabelle. I made fliers before the library closed. I called and left a message at the local animal shelter. I was at the shelter when it opened this morning, and they had already heard my message. No Giz. I returned to the library and posted several fliers. I went to work.

Shortly after returning to the jobsite, one of my superiors found me and told me to call my dad - his number was on the flier. I borrowed Jeff's phone and called Dad.

Kimberly is a rising senior at Starrs Mill H.S., and a typical upscale Peachtree City girl. She's shapely thin and dresses well. Her hair is well-cut dark brown, and her pretty eyes even darker. She hopes to be a Smith College, Massachusetts, educated lawyer. She has an adorable smile and a warm, approachable personality. She's a genuine Fayette County, GA, hottie. Peach indeed.

She left the library last night to find Gizmeaux "running around in circles" near the main entrance. She took him home, bathed and fed him, and let him sleep in her bed. She called the shelter only moments after I left there this morning. The shelter gave her my dad's number.

She was sitting on a bench in the morning sun, and Gizmeaux was lying in the bench's shade. The reunion was less energetic than I was expecting - probably an indication of Gizzes state of well being. Kimberly ultimately appologized for "taking" Giz, but I let her know that I understood, and that she would not have slept a wink knowing that there was a stray fuzz-boy out there somewhere in the rainy dark.

I asked her to please wait there for a moment, for I had met her in haste, and failed to do something enroute to our impromptu rendevous. I returned in 10 minutes after going to a nearby bank.

"Here's fifty dollars" I said upon my return.
She took it. I said something about having our little man back, and gave her a big hug. She hugged back with an "awwww". We were both in tears.

As I began to walk away, I stopped, turned, and asked if she really had a pet bear. She looked at me bepuzzled-like.
"Gizmeaux" I said.
"Oh, and did y'all really go to Alaska?" I asked.
Kimberly smiled - she got it.
"Yeah, we went to Alaska. But I don't really have a bear."

I had been away with Giz for several minutes before our second conversation.

As I began to walk away, I stopped, turned, and asked if she really had a pet bear. She looked at me bepuzzled-like.

"Gizmeaux" I said.
Here I rolled my eyes toward the truck with a "pffffft".

Before she had time to respond, I asked
"Oh, and did y'all really go to Alaska?"

Saved by a Smithy (or is it an aspiring Smithy)!! Kewl... !

Being from the south lands, y'all probably don't know the stereotype of Smithies.

My son, btw, is placing at a music festival at Smith College this Fall (the woman who booked him proudly fits the stereotype).

Good Giz is back.

But geez, I can't see her accepting $50. Crikey. (maybe money towards shoes or sumthin?)
