“LOL....when I was a scout in Texas our troop was sponsored by a GIANT Methodist church. The YOUTH Pastor decided to join us on a trip. Not backpacking it was more of a Car camping with some day hiking.

The leaders shared a huge TARP CITY type tent. Well on Saturday night a typical Spring time thunderstorm broke out.

About 2 Am the stakes for the Tarp city began slipping and they had to reset them, retighten lines etc.

Our Scoutmaster was a retired Airforce MasterSgt who had spent 30 years in the Air Police. He was around 6'1" and weighed 300#+ (A BIG GUY).

At some point he explained he is standing in the driving rain and had to move to hold the tarp over the cot of the Youth Pastor as well as hold it so they could tighten the lines. This resulted in him straddling the Cot the youth pastor was sleeping on. He explained at one point he (standing in his LOOSE Boxers) looked down to see the WIDE OPEN eyes of the Youth Pastor staring up (he was awake from the lightning, thunder etc). LOL the Scoutmaster said he was tired, wet and pissed he looked down and said,"IF you don't like what you see, CLOSE YOUR EYES."

That was the beginning of the end of our troop at that church.....”

My wife is one who backpacked once and never went back. She'll car camp and she'll hike, but don't mix them.”

I can think of one gal who whined... and just might have been on a trip with that bunch. She was on one of my trips... and left early.

Course, geez, we all know I put on trips that are so bad that people always flock away in horror!!! >8-O”
