Break-in is gonna take some time because of the full grain, all leather uppers but they feel good already. I hope they live long enough to justify the price.

FWIW ~ I wore those boots right out of the box and hiked Knife's Edge on Katahdin on their maiden voyage. ;) Never had a single problem with them. I love those boots!”

I wouldn't advise you to procure a bearcan for the CO trip - we don't have that many bears - save the money and put it on something else - like buying beer when you get here.

The boots were bought with that trip specifically in mind, but I wanted something that would do all my other hiking in too. These seem to be the ones.

The helmet isn't the foamless one with the straps in the top. I looked at that, but went with the next step down. I can't remember the name. The light one was $89, and I bought the $69 model instead. Tonight on my way home I'm gonna see if my tattoo artist will paint some cool stuff on it for me. I think some flames on the front, and maybe a skull with a coiled rope and ice axe crossed behind it kinda like a modified jolly rodger. I don't know. What do you think?”
