Papa's got a brand new bag!View Messages“fridge: let me clarify. I do not rock climb yet. I have only climbed a couple times and shouldn't have done what I did because we had no pro at all. I am interested, but the reason for the brain bucket is for mountaineering, which I'll be taking my first trip in August. I know I'll find myself roping up in the near future, I just haven't made the commitment yet.” 4:47:48 PM 2/21/08 “Windigrrl/ what pack did you buy?” I bought a ULA Catalyst. I wanted to try to find something lighter than I have right now. I hope I like it.” 5:38:18 PM 2/21/08 “ya cause you don't have any gear. LOL! When you start running out of room Windi just let me know, and I'll be happy to take some of that stuff off your hands. ;)” 7:59:31 AM 2/22/08 “Let me know what you need, I may have it stored somewhere, lol. Hey, I'm just trying to catch up with some of the others here when it comes to gear. I have a long ways to go to catch Fridge, lol.” 8:29:48 AM 2/22/08 “How about one of those cool UL hammocks with the quick hang straps?” 8:32:48 AM 2/22/08 “The boots were the biggie: Asolo TPS 520 GTX Break-in is gonna take some time because of the full grain, all leather uppers but they feel good already. I hope they live long enough to justify the price. meangreen 3:38:43 PM FWIW ~ I wore those boots right out of the box and hiked Knife's Edge on Katahdin on their maiden voyage. ;) Never had a single problem with them. I love those boots!” 8:57:21 AM 2/22/08 “glad to hear that! Thanks!” 9:03:18 AM 2/22/08 “How about one of those cool UL hammocks with the quick hang straps?” You slept in the hammock I have and I do have the quick hang straps. You can borrow it any time you want.” 9:22:44 AM 2/22/08 “Hey MG, I second what LMG said. You'll like those boots.” 9:33:06 AM 2/22/08 “Hey, I didn't notice the name of the boots. I have the female version of those and really like them.” 9:37:00 AM 2/22/08 “sweet! Thanks Windi! Weather permitting I'd like to use it on the KT. That would prolly save me two pounds and loads of space.” 9:44:14 AM 2/22/08 “Sure, not a problem.” 9:46:40 AM 2/22/08 “mean-g - good score on the boots and helmet - is the Petzl that super lightweight one? I've been ogling that for a few months now - mine is rather clunky in comparison. I wouldn't advise you to procure a bearcan for the CO trip - we don't have that many bears - save the money and put it on something else - like buying beer when you get here. :)” 9:47:22 AM 2/22/08 “really? Ok. I thought it was a necessity. The boots were bought with that trip specifically in mind, but I wanted something that would do all my other hiking in too. These seem to be the ones. The helmet isn't the foamless one with the straps in the top. I looked at that, but went with the next step down. I can't remember the name. The light one was $89, and I bought the $69 model instead. Tonight on my way home I'm gonna see if my tattoo artist will paint some cool stuff on it for me. I think some flames on the front, and maybe a skull with a coiled rope and ice axe crossed behind it kinda like a modified jolly rodger. I don't know. What do you think?” 9:56:52 AM 2/22/08 “a skull with a coiled rope and ice axe crossed behind it kinda like a modified jolly rodger. that actually sounds really cool!” 10:34:43 AM 2/22/08
