Don't need it any more, my Gallant finally died after 250k so I might as well get rid of the roof rack while I'm getting rid of the car. 400xt Aero Foot with LB50 Load Bars. Two 590 - V2 bike racks. 872 Fairing. 6 locks (4 for the feet and two for the bike racks). It'll be pretty hefty to ship, but if you're interested let me know and we can work out a deal. It'll just be taking up space.

re-using an old thread-

anyone have experience using roof rack systems?
specifically, what's the worst that could happen if i use my thule storage bag sideways so the zipper goes along the front?

forgot to add that the instructions say do not put zip in front.

Hmmm, I wonder if this is to prevent damage to the zipper or to help stop water from penetrating?

Sorry, just speculating. I don't have any experience with this bag.

The trick seems to be make sure that the bag is full.

Fullness reduces noise, but also doesn't allow water to collect in the hollows.

I'd suggest keeping your zipper to the side, or behind. Frontal zipper orientation could lead to problems! :-)

yes.. water issues when up front but also bugs and grime.. i'd avoid it if possible.

my problem is my car is way too small for a standard size bag, so the one i have is a bit big. to get the attaching-to-roofrack-straps tight, the best position is with the bag positioned 'sideways' so length of bag is across the car roof. the regular way on the bigger car was zipper along sides & back.
i'm hoping that the worst problem will be leakage.

next time, i'm gonna have to buy a bus or something.

Then you won't need the roof rack.

ha! i never thought of just duct-taping the bag on!

my question/rant of the day--why do SUV's get all the roof rack systems and hitch rack options? whythehell do they need more storage? you'd think that with a car that huge, room for gear inside the vehicle wouldn't be a problem.
(still mad that the bag is bigger my car)

I made a bag for the top of the car, using Ballistic material to tie to my Yakima racks. It worked great until the mice got it!

it's when your car fits IN the bag that you really have problems...
