it's great stuff but my old stuff has to wear out first and my spinnaker tarp is still holding up very well.

I named my cuban tarp Fidel, but it's made of woven palm fronds- it's thai heck.

i bought my tarp quite some time ago. it has served me well... so well that i really can't justify replacing it.

the only "problem" (if you can call it a problem) is that the rain is LOUD on the SS tarp... real drumhead effect. i wonder if the cuben fiber tarps are the same way. the material feels softer. any comments on this? not a huge plus but just something i noted.

Tarps seldom have the pitch of tents and it's sounds so. And, double wall tents muffle rain sounds.

I only ask,

right now i made a 89 x 52 x40... 95% vent...without fly but has upper venting with...2 poles,6 stakes,guy outs....2.78oz carry,

I think i can drop it to 2lb easy with cuben for this same setup?
